  • need custom machined cnc'd parts

    Hi All

Does anybody own there own milling machine or have access to a milling machine.

I've got a motor mount i've designed for an electric conversion, i've tried a couple of companies now and no response .

I have the file in dxf format taken from emachineshop. I'm having trouble getting it into solidworks (lack of knowledge).

    Cheers
    Ian

I have a 'old boy' literally round the corner that does metal work, I had him make me a couple motorcycle brackets a few years back, if you get me some plans on paper with measurements I can have him knock it up for you, I'm debating using him but this is 1 of 2 options for having my 500 size g5 skids made the other is Simon Eggbeater - RCHA username - as he works with metal and has offered to make me a swash leveller accurate to one millionth of an inch for free, guess where i'm headed first.
    Nik.

    Before you ask:

    About 2 miles
    Over £500
    Very difficult
    Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

Don't forget the 'Search' and 'Thanks' buttons.

    RIP Anthony 'Tinny' Lombardi (25195517)

Does'nt E-MachineShop do the manufacturing for you?

I've looked at this website before and also just now out of interest in reponse to your post and it looks like once your designed your item they will manufacture it in any number of different materials of your choice. Ive also seen a few people who have had items done by emachineshop.
      Happy Flying! Thanks - Dave

It does, unfortunately my part is coming in at $500, i've been in contact and they have my file and are working on a glitch as it goes without saying that it should cost nowhere near that. So now i just use it to design in and transfer as a dxf

              Hi Mutley,

Could you post a picture of what you are talking about?
I can't imagine an engine mount could be so complex you couldn't make a one off with hand tools, hacksaw, files, Dremel etc?
Thats how I made mine, took me three goes though!

              Tim.

                  Oh I see!
OK ignore my comment about cutting by hand.

Is this for a TZ90 conversion, looking at your sig.?
I am sure I have heard of an electric conversion of one of those somewhere . . .
-Just looked & they all seem to use custom motor mounts.

                  Tim.

Look at evolution26's gallery on RR,
His mount is two flat sideplates & a simple rectangular mount bolted in between:-

Or this design using the stock metal brace with a plate bolted above it:-
