  • my exciting weekend

    sooooo...
saturday started with a trip over the road to a friends house for an all day heli fix up, it was a long long day from 10am - midnight he had his 600N to finish and i had my rappy to finish. this was all because of....

sunday! (today) we went to fmhc's fly-in for some entertainment and for the maidon voyage of my rappy 50 and his rex 600.

so to start with we sorted a few little problems and then the time came and.... i thought people were just joking when they say there knee's shake like crazy!!!

but, i took it nice and slow on the thottle to start with and then just went for it!!, completly trusting my practice on the sim!

    and.....

SUCCESS!!! she went straight in to that rock solid hover i had been practising!

so im now VERY happy as it has taken a LONG! long time to get this far!

as for the rex, he had a few problems and it took untill the end of the day to get it sorted but it flew and he's happy

so its goodbye trainning sticks and.....bring on the nose in hover !!

hope you all had a good weekend!,
    Tom

    Well done,

I've just done my first nose in landings/ T offs and remember getting the same pleasure and sense of achievement when I did my first hovers,

Thats the good thing about this sport you never stop learning,

        Great News Tom
I too had a real blast today, best days flying I have had since i started,

        Mini Titan
        Twister 3D

Went to another one of the clubs site for the first time today, it wa great, weather was fabulous, although a little breazy first thing, but as the day got on the weather got better and better
Had sooo much fun doing a few circuits, and practised a litlle nose in hover with the Rappy, its coming, but after i had finished for the day, I must admit i was wacked out

cant wait till i get them all up in the air again.

So much to learn, but oh what joy when some thing new clicks into place.

tripler, im hoping it wont be long untill i will be saying the same as you!! :P i can do it on the sim...but its still early days in real life

thanks andrew, unfortunatly i planted the solaris the other day and i think i broke the one thing that wasnt in the box! the blade grips! as well as the blades and a bent flybar (but hey ho). to add to that i ordered the grips from midland and then they rang up and said they were out of stock so im waiting for them to come in.... hopefully it wont be to long!!!
          see yal

and thanks to rob, great!! was a real nice day! get back on that sim and nail that nose in duuude!!!

            Hi Tom

Sorry to hear re the solaris. You can get spares from anywhere that stocks mini-pred spares. I've bought from revolutionmodels.co.uk, skylinemodels and just about anywhere else - try Sussex Model Centre, as thats where I bought it from in the first place.

            Cheers

              cheers philimon.
i understand that but i was just to lazy....didnt want the hastle of midland giving me a refund and buying again! lol

but im REALLY happy with it. flys pretty sweat.

it was completly my fault...think i got a tad carryed away!
was in my garden (not huge) and was going from side to side slowly but then i got cocky and did a small stall turn which went fine and i was really happy. this was untill i tryed to do it again......didnt put enough powwer in on the way down lol
              cheers,
              Tom

Hey Tom, I'm glad you're happy with it. After how some people have slated the mini-pred, I was quiet concerned that you should enjoy it. I think its good value for money, certianly.

PS How was the gyro working for you? When I got the heli, I had endless hastles with the tail - it would just not work properly. Not being sure of what it could be, I bought a GY401 and the tail servo and installed. Things were a little better and then I saw that there was some lock tite on the ball at the rudder, and the tail pitch lever arm was sticking. So I cleaned the ball joint and used the mod you can see on the pitch arm and it worked great for me. Never worked out if the improvement was due to the gyro & servo, or the latter stuff.

it would seem that its the latter stuff.

tail is fairly snappy...took me by supprise! but i can just about keep up with it

havnt done that much flying with it yet though as it was only my 3 rd flight that i crashed it. so i will give you a better update of how its going later on.

i have also bought a charger btw £7 of ebay and its balance and it charges the bell47 battery too!

                  cheers,
                  Tom
