  • New Field ;-)

    Horbury Helicopter Club Nr Wakefield

We started at our new field today, We now have a 17 acre dedicated flying site on private land, the JCB was there this morning with the first few rather large wagon loads of hardcore to tidy up the entrance to the field and start making us a parking area, the skelpings will be there on Monday all rolled and like a tarmac road

Several of us had our first days flying there today, loads of air space, nice crisp weather and no wind - excellent!

Pictures from taken on IPhone so not too brilliant quality...

Its just off J39 M1, then up Denby Dale Road, off to the right hand side opposite the paint ball place thats on the left.

Google has the paintball place in the middle of the little housing hamlet which is on the way down the lane towards the field buts thats wrong, the paintball place its on the other side of Denby Dale Road.

The green arrow marks the field, if your passing sometime call in for a fly

I reckon I know that place quite well.

I took hundreds of tonnes of coal out of Bullcliffe Wood Collery when it was open further up the road before the roundabout.

That's the place Tim, infact the field we are at was also opencast mined in the past we are told.
