  • 2.4 GHz Clash

I heard a story earlier today that the new 2.4 GHz Futaba sets knock out the Spektrum ones for two seconds during start-up.

Apparently, it's got something to do with the way in which they locate and lock onto their frequencies, and if you're flying with a Spektrum set while somebody else turns on their Futaba set, you'll be locked out for two seconds.

Does anyone know any more about this?

If this is true they will not be legal to use

Its up to Futaba to ensure their equipment does not effect current systems,if it did i am pretty certain ofcom would refuse a licence

i've heard something similar today, but it was suggested it was only a split second glitch

split second or not, if you are in the middle of a low level tic-toc or similar, it would be plenty long enough for it to slam in to the ground, and if i got "shot-down" by someone on futaba switching on, i think id be gunning for their blood....

I've heard rumours, it's down to Futaba to resolve this if it's true, Spektrum had their set out first.

I've got a DX7 and a Futaba 3VC on 2.4 ghz,I'm presuming the Futaba will use the same frequency hopping as the aero sets.

I'll try it tomorrow and see if it affects the DX7 when I switch the Futaba on.

The Futaba FASST system frequency hops every 0.02 seconds so will be on the same 'channel' as Spektrum radios but the channels on 2.4ghz are very wide and both Futaba & Spektrum state there will not be interference. They've been using the Spektrum & Futaba 2.4ghz systems in the US for a while longer than us and at some very large fun flys, I've not seen any problems like this reported, quite the opposite in fact.

                          Ade still in andover...

i spoke to bobj about this at clubman.

as has been said even if they did end up on the same freq it would only be for 0.02secs on ONE of spektrums 2 frequencies so unless the local area was so bad that your only running on one frequency your not going to get any interference and even if you do i doubt you would notice it.
