I'm trying to get the hand of piroflips in Phoenix. Just wondering about the coordination between the cyclic stir and the piro rate. Should I be doing 1 stir for every one rotation of the heli?

Are you doing halfs or full ones mate?
Did you have a look under the "Training tutorials" as theres the flips under there!
I've only been doing halfs at the mo.. cant even understand full ones.. theres also vids on U-tube and 3D

I'm trying to do full ones. Good point about the tutorials -totally forgot about that!

Piroflips take a fair bit of practice, to begin with don't think of it as one move rather than a combination of moves performed in quick sucession. Start with half piro's going from upright to inverted whilst moving the tail through 180 degrees, then back to upright with another 180. Once you can confidently perform half piro's in both directions you can begin to combine them into a consistent piro flip. Getting the blade disk level in both the upright position and inverted is the key. Stirring the sticks and hoping to control it is definately harder!

I started with doing 1 stir per complete flip which is a piro flip. I'm now doing continous ones & getting the disc level inverted is hard but inverted to upright is my good section. This is why i've reduced my rudd EP considerably so i have time to give the correct input during any orientation. I'm getting there ........slowly
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

Yes, I've already been doing half piroflips -sometimes nice and tidy, sometimes a bit shoddy.Originally posted by Vanquish View PostPiroflips take a fair bit of practice, to begin with don't think of it as one move rather than a combination of moves performed in quick sucession. The easiest way to understand it is to think of it as a Piro loop which is essentially the same.
The difference is you use less pitch so it stays put.
IMHO one rotation per 1/2 flip looks very clumsy and untidy + it can also bind out the rotor head and at best looks like a very bad piro tic-toc
Introducing intermediate rotations helps no end..I myself prefer 4 rotations per flip so it becomes fluid. (upright to inverted and back)
The Cyclic stir is timed at the same speed as the rotation of the model so the model is always being tilted the same direction throughout.
Hope that helps

Nope you lost me sorry,
But piroetts full stop have always been a bugbare for me so i've gone back to basics of controlling a piroette full stop as in piro forward piro bavk piro left/right etc etc.
