    New Club

    Hi,

Count me in, I'm a new to helis as well.

    I've got a Swift, a TREX 450 SE VS and a Twister CP V2.

I can fly them all tail in quite happily and that's it. I'm working up to the other orientations but I have to go out to the Hampshire Electric Flyers Field near Marwell.

I live in Portsmouth too, in Drayton up on the hill.

If you need any help I'm your man.

Some of the clubs I approached wouldn't even consider letting me fly helicopters. I'm the only one at HEF who flies them but they are very good about it and still talk to me whhen I go up to their field.

I peg out a little launch pad way down the field out of their way and putter around practising hovering.

It's a bit intimidating flying up there sometimes because some of the pilots up there have competed in the national championships and are very very good.

I have to agree that a website is the best way to get new members. Most of the new members we get have been on our website first. Also contact your local shop(s) and you may be able to advertise there and if you get on well with the owner they may recommend your club.
I use www.freewebs.com for free hosting. It only lets you put 50 files per site(user name) so our site runs over 5 usernames.
It’s not as flash as disc's site but I only know the basics on frontpage.

          Mine isn't flash based....

I just used iweb comes with the Mac then upload the website to my own personal NTL webspace. iWeb is bad the in the way it does things a lot of code is bloated. But coupled with other iLife software its easy to use and create a good website.

Easy to use and do... its a Mac thing

Also the local shop thing is a def ++ as well were in a few shops not so local but there the nearest now...

If you want any advice etc let me know i'll help you the best I can.

site layout etc and becarefull where you place the mower storage or temp unit like a steal container. If you show it to sit in the middle of a field there likely to say "no" you want it near a hedge line and also put in the planing you'll plant around it but using natural plants don't use things like pine or lowlandi they won't like it.

Also you have to use the survey maps and these cost you 25 pounds each and you'll need 3-4 copys... each being exactly the same!

plus this gets around the planning rule.(so container can wait.)

loctation ,will be give out as soon as we get the nod.

i carnt see for any reson that the will be TIME LIMETS,like my

No flying after 6pm & NO bankholidays- witch is a silly rule to put in place.as most of the memebers have a working life ,and bills to pay..faimlies to keep and not forgetting NEW helis to buy,

Naa container does Not get you out the planning permsion thing by any means. A Club is considered 5 or more that fly together then you Automatically fall foul of planning permision.

When you 1st go for planing heres a few tips.

If theres a house within 3/4 mile you'll end up some time limits I expect. So kind of do them yourselfs.... 10am to 7pm weekends, Week day flying until 8pm Nitro machines. Nitro Machines Noise check to 82db (they all do it fine in the hover trust me )

Make Bank holidays the same as weekends.

Electric fly to dusk, Of course no noisey motor to make that awful noise (Yes I know what I said so don't comment here please, people read things)

Remeber the local house owners can cause you more hassle than anyone esle so you have to sometimes give to get.

shorly if land owner ,kindly lets me use 20 acers on a 300 acre site, and theres some rules in place and done with respect.
as ive may lease/rent the feild(s).is another option

                            and not forgetting fee's.

As soon as 5 people join your Club thats hit your hit by the planning. you don't all have to be there together.

So 5 Friends = a Club in the eyes of the Council or BMFA for that matter!

Okay No houses for 3 miles around you have it Nailed in the Bag....

Planning permsion there is NO Reason why you cannot get until Dusk for Nitro Flying if you word it right etc.

As your flying a model we are considered a sport and its a change of land use that gets us so thats why we need planning permsion.

You should even get a container if you have a hedge you can put it next to, they get techy about one standing in the middle of a field as they stand out.

Plan your site out, Car parking,Pitts, No fly zones etc

Er we have a Public footpath right through our flight line and we got planning permision so don't be put off by doing it right
