    hey man.

Nice to hear someone is being positive about things and found a potential new site for a club. Also glad to hear you are recovering well from what must have been a really bad accident.

If I was closer I'd come and support you, but I'm sure there will be lots of people interested.

    Good Luck mate.

Theres some hoops to jump through to become a BMFA affiliated club, you need a committee among other things.
The best thing you could do is contact the BMFA and ask them directly.

The club I fly at is not a BMFA affiliated club. We pay the landowner a small fee to allow us on the land to fly, and give him a bottle of scotch at xmas
No mess, no fuss, just flying.

          Cheers,

            Okay,

You want a group of 5 of you with about 500-800 pounds each to loan the Club as an intrest free loan. You will agree to pay it back when the club can afford it.

You have to Trust these guys and get along well with them thats very important.

1st Thing do NOT Fly on the land yet to much.

2nd thing get planning permsion into the local council find out what they need and this will cost you about 250 pounds. make sure they know its an outdoor sport, your affilated to the BMFA. noise level at 82db anything more you'll find it hard to get permsion. You will need Maps and layout of your Flying area. we had a large area and at the planning meeting they asked why we said because new starters with planes tend to cover a larger area. If your non-profit you may get cheaper planning permsion ask at the time you apply.

house or habitable home within 1 mile? If there is watch your planning permsion flying times. Sometimes you have to give to get later.

Example we had temp for 1 year then went permant permsion. We could fly 10am - 7pm 7 days a week.

This year we applied for later flying monday to friday 10am - 9pm I.C Engines. but bank holidays and weekends are still to 7pm only for I.C.

If we get no complaints it should go perment so we can fly until 9pm.

Set out the Rules and constituion (how do you spell it..) and include that in the planning as well. Make sure no Airbase is to close either although were actually in R.A.F Cranwells Airspace and R.A.F Eaddington is close by were actually on there Maps in the control Towers this we know for certain

What I do for new members is they fly with me and 2-3 others then if we get on with them I'll let them know they can join, If I get a bad vibe or the others do. I say no sorry were full.

Were 50 members or so and not clicky there a Good Bunch and we all help each other.

Prime example of our club doing things well... Is now over the Summer every Thursday 6pm to 9pm is a Training Night for fixed wing. All instructors attend and then who ever shows up wanting to fly and learn gets the help they require.

I have been in a few Clubs and they can be very Clicky and hopefully were never clicky and the commitee we do things away from the Club in meetings we don't argue or debate stuff in front of members.

                Hey Abyiss
wanted to send you a few words of encouragement re your back but your PM box is full.
anyway, I was lucky enough to recover well from 5 compressed vertibrae in my upper back. Seem to have no ill effects, just I'm 3/4" shorter.
Its wierd lying on your back for weeks though - seems like everyone is walking on the wall. I can read mirror writing fast too after watching the telly in a mirror!

Okay, things you need money for:

                  1. Planning permsion
                  2. Somewhere to store your Mower ( we have a steal container, as there hard to vadnalise) cost about 800 pounds delivered.
                  3. a Good Mower trust me these aint cheap and you want to cut around 3 acres and in the summer thats going to take 2 hours-ish to cut depending on mower.
                  4. 1st Years Rent.

This also covers other costs you may incurr. Remeber its an intrest free loan to the Club you will get it back at some point. I am owed over 800 pounds still by the Club I help setup. We have money in the bank but we are still investing in the club all the time.

Oh make sure you get a Fixed Rent agreement for 3-5 years to start with after that then get an exentsion. You only need around 3 acres for your pitts and runway etc.

Best Advice they will give you is if the local papers call you to ask about it Don't Talk to them!

BMFA wasn't a lot of help to us as I recall and that was the best thing they said!

                              abyiss..

Its interesting to hear your comments and I fully take them onboard...

However, on the same token this is the side effect of forums, and I hope that members will take note that someone who's been out of action for a while can sense a change in the mood of the board and I hope collectively we put some fun back into the board.

On a more positive note...its good to have you back and I hope your recovery is as swift as possible.
