  • What game is my Gyro playing?

Got my TREX out of the Airwolf fuselage, and flying it as it's meant to be again... so no more retracts. Gyro back onto switchable CH7. But it's not 100% right. When I take off and go forward and hover, all is well. Solid like rock!

But when I try left and right rudder, it twitches before it settles on the heading I want. Like a shimmer. Is that a gyro gain problem? As I say, it's rock sold when I am not on the rudder stick.

I have had some major tail problems - with two belts giving in on me, so I am not sure if this is related. Does it sound liek a gain problem?

    Gyro is at 80% currently.

Does it shimmer when you move the tail in one direction only? Or both?
If it's in one direction then the tail needs setting up mechanically again in normal mode.

If it's both then the delay needs to be increased a tad.
If you have no wag and rock solid hold during the flight then I doubt it's a gain issue..Although 80% is high for a 450, mine was around 45%. Adjusting the tail rod a hole further out on the servo arm will bring it down a bit.

Oh - it's doing it one direction I think. Haven't even started it in STD mode yet, since changing the belt... So, I've cocked something then have I?

Yeah mate it sounds like it's mechanically off. It's called 'Bounce' and usually happens in one direction only when the tail is 'Off neutral'
Set it up mechanically with little or no drift in normal mode, land the heli then flick the CH7 switch into HH mode and back to normal mode 3 times in quick succession leaving it in HH mode.

This tells the gyro your new mechanical neutral setting & improves tail hold.
        Cheers,

With hitec and futaba, gain approaches 100% or zero with 50% being no gain (mine is 18 normal and 82 HH), with JR gain is max at 50% and it goes from -50% to + 50% (I think).
This we keep comparing 42% (JR/spectrum) with 80 odd (futaba) and saying "thats very high"!
