scale fuse for 120sr.?

Hello....

Possibly a daft question but here goes.....

I have ( and love ) my Blade 120sr and i was wondering about a scale fuse for this heli... My absolute favourite fuse would be the Align 500d Brietling version. Question is this will add 130g to the overall flying weight, so will she fly....?

Im not going to expect the same quick flying that i enjoy from my stock set up just nice flat smooth scale flyin. I know i will need to be creative with the C of G and such and im happy to play about with it to get the set up right. My concern is the extra weight against the power of this little machine and the electric tail. I believe the flying weight of the 120sr out of the box is 106g.

I know the best answer is to get a trex 250 but im not ready to go for CP helis yet ( tried the blade 400 and didnt get on with it ).

I just wanted to run this by everyone ( most more technical than me im sure ) before laying down the cash for a fuse and a donor heli....

Any thoughts guys....?

IMO.. You will soon get bored of the sr once you get a cp heli (or a sim) so i wouldnt really spend more on parts unless its crash parts/batteries. Do you have a sim?

Should be ok with a plastic fuselage, no problem moving the tail as its not belt driven. Avoid GRP fuses, i reackon there too heavy for the SR.

Don't know if anyone makes a fusee specifically for the 120SR or not.
But I can tell you that I fitted a purpose built scale fusee to my mSR, and it destroyed the handling completely. Dam thing would hardly lift off at all, and when it did get airborne (with the aid of a hand launch) the battery would only last about a minuet
OK it looked great but what good is that if you cant fly it

yes i'm having similar probs with my MSR , too heavy i think ! This is a problem with going scale, any size heli, weight is the killer ! you can go down the route of bigger batteries or fiddle with pitch settings, motor & ESC upgrades ( not on the msr though ). It can be frustrating, but its not impossible.

Agreed, would prob have the same effect as with the mSR re handling. The fuselage and bits added to my 450 doubled the weight!!!!!!!

My point exactly....it can look a million dollars but if it dont fly its a very expensive ornament....

My 120sr i have will be staying as is... ive fitted the trex 250 skid set which adds a little " healthy " weight and looks good. Along with a few upgrades she flys well.

If i did look at a scale project it would be with a donor heli thats for sure.

Thanks to all the replies chaps.....

The fuse im looking at is the ALIGN TREX-250 ( MD500 ). This has a built weight of 130grams.....

I think my best plan would be to simulate this weight and add it to my existing 120sr and see if she will fly... The fuse itself is quite a bit bigger but im happy to work on C of G and tail control as its electric tail i can re solder and re fit that.....

As you all rightly say, the weight will kill or cure it me thinks... it would be a shame if it does as this fuse has always been a favourite and the 120sr is just right for my skill set as it stands and does exactly what i want a heli for..... fun.!!
