    Hi all
been looking around and the csm cl1 keeps popping up,
is it just a gyro that will replace my existing 1 or do i use it along side my 1?
    Cheers Aaron

Cl1 if i'm not mistaken is a Cycloc. Its used to correct electronic mixing errors in ECCPM setup's and can also be used to join 3 CSM SL720's together for flybarless applications.

So in short the answer is NO ITS NOT A GYRO

Yes will improve on what you have and yes will fit on a 450 and no you don't need a laptop to set it up. Although you can use a pc on soon to be released software allowing further tweaking

I think the above quote is for teh beastX??

the CSM Cycloc does require a PC / Laptop

it is not a gyro its primary job is to allow you to accuratley setup a mcahine with much finer controls than you can get from your transmitter. it also allows you to have a higher resolution (more accurate controls).

The CL1 mixes the three ccpm servos on the heli. You set your tx like a raptor with sparate aileron, elevator and collective.
You can expand the three controls to maximum end points on the tx, so you have greater resolution of the cyclic and collective on the helicopter.
You can drive digital ccpm servos at 333us so they work faster and more accurately.

You can fiddle with the throws and centres of the servos by connecting it to a PC to minimise interactions.
full elevator and full aileron don't add up to more than just fiull elevator or just full aileron, so you don't get binding with the stick in the corner (electronic cyclic ring)
You can mix a bit of elevator and/or aileron with the collective to make you heli go straight up without veering off for both positive and negative collective.
You can mix elevator with aileron or the other way so it doesn't roll at all when you flip etc.
You can adjust the phase electronically so the roll axis is exactly in line with the boom (which it isn't quite on most helis, and varies a little with different blades).

Regarding flybarless, just wait, perhaps there will be an even better flybarless system available in the not too distant future

Better than the Beast in terms of performance and value, I doubt it. The only 2 I know of coming to the market is the Futaba offering certainly going to be good by the videos but add at least £100 to the price of the Beast. I also heard that Colin Mills was up to something in a single box, not sure how true that is.
