  • Won a GV-1!

Decided to mess about on E-Bay, and noticed that people are selling used GV-1s for between £50 and £60...

So bid on one for a laugh - and won it!!
    £46 delievered...

    Is that a good deal?

Not sure if one will benefit me with hovering flight... will it? Worth putting on now?

GV1 are pretty old and slow by todays standards but will do the job you need very nicely.

however. the sensors are less than reliable and not cheap to replace when they go wrong.

to give you some perspective the gv1 sensor is 20ukp last time i looked.

the CSM Rev-lock 10 is 45ukp new and the sensors are about 6ukp and its a far better governor imo.

Is it worth attaching the GV1 for hovering flight an learning?

Don't let Ade wind you up, yes the GV1 is a little long in the tooth, but it is a good solid governor, a little slow and the sensors can be flakey, but very easy to setup.

I've just put one on my Synergy after numerous problems with the Revlock and it does the job superbly. Doesn't drop off or struggle to engage like my revlock.

In terms of whether to put it on now whilst you are still hovering and doing figure of eights, it is up to you. Personally I wouldn't for several reasons

                1) It is just an added item to set-up and maintain
                2) Risk of damaging unit in crash whilst you don't really require it
                3) Wear and tear whilst you don't really require it
                4) Will tend to mask any engine tuning problems you have
I'm sure others will disagree with me
