Muddy Field!

We have tried out a potential new flying field today and as are most fields at this time of year it's quite muddy, especially driving in with cars. Hardcore at the entrance has been suggested but that will need almost 100 tons of the stuff, grass matting has also been suggested.

Has anyone had any success with anything to help that's of a reasonable cost?

Yup,

Rent a bobcat for a weekend and then try to source road "skelpings" the tar that they rip up when re-surfacing the roads.

This is what was used at the Kinross Club and seems to work well.

Just to add, grass matting is a waist of money and did not work all that well for us.

so what sort of money are you talking for the road scrapings?

Keep an eye out for the tipper trucks doing road surfacing they will be clad just to tip it there & if there's room for them they will spread it as they tip, no probs to do that for bit of cash.
