  • Help sourcing Batteries.

    I need some help.

Before xmas a i sold off my raptor and blade 400 to pay bills and get the son a present, so i currently have no heli (as i have no job).

    However,

A friend from the field i fly at has said that he will lend me his Raptor E550.

I know its old etc, but a heli is a heli. What i want to know is whether anyone has had any experience with them as to where i can get a battery for it???

Its will be run off a 6s pack.

From what i can gather they are long as opposed to the thick ones??

    Cheers

Flightpower made a 6 cell stick but i've not seen one for sale for a while, however, you can use a 6 cell brick instead but you need to watch the pack width and hight measurements so that it will slip between the frame sides and go back far enough for your CofG.

I believe the raptor e models run on 10S. With that in mind get 2 x 5S packs and create your own harness to wire them up in series. I would recommend you get the batteries from HobbyKing using the DE warehouse as then you will not have to pay any more taxes.

What is the spec for the motor? What pinion size? Spec for ESC?

Picture of the pack. This looks like 12 cells. It might be that it runs 2 x 6S in parallel. If that is the case then you can still get you want from HobbyKing.

Cool . Seems like a bit of an anomaly. this link suggests 6s TC Model Racing - Raptor E550 think its best to wait until i get it and have a look. LOL.

That's good. When you get the model measure the opening in the frame for the pack size and then see what you can get to fit.

If the model you have is alloy frames, then its definitely the E550 which is a 6s heli- its bigger brother is the 620SE which is a 8-10s lipo and uses Raptor Titan boom, belt and 620 main blades- frame is carbon,,,,,,

Regarding pack size, basically any single pack up to 4500 mah will fit and on the standard motor which is equivalent to say a z power a30, you would be looking at a h/speed around 1700 in normal mode and idle up around 1850,, main blades are 500-550mm and unless you change the plastic head block to a raptor 50 metal one- wouldn't risk running high head speeds anyway !!!

Still got both models plus a spare 620se as a donor model- good solid flyers and spares still available from the usual suspects..

The standard setup for the E550 is a 6S pack around 5000mah. I haven't flown mine for a while but when it was in regular use I was using TP 5000 packs in brick format.

The stock swash setup is a 90 degree 3 servo setup, a bit of a rarity these days, there's also a 135 degree swash available which is well worth it.

As it swings 550 blades it's around 30 nitro size but has more power than a 50. I have a Kasama head on mine which livened it up but it flys well enough with the stock setup, not really banging 3D but a very stable sport flyer.

Mine now resides in a 50 size Hughes 500 fuselage, easy enough to do by adding a Raptor 50 boom & belt, it even manages to swing 600 blades going down one tooth on the pinion.

Sorry, wrong, the E550 is a 6 cell 30 size heli, motor and ESC are different to the 10 cell 50 size 620SE.
The Align 22.2V 5000mah packs will fit between the frame sides and any other pack of similar dimensions which are: Hight - 55mm, Width 45mm and length around 160mm

I realise that now but I only posted what I can see in the picture, which is on Thunder Tigers website that came up when I googled E550.
