Hi guys and girls I fly on my own and I have always flowen by the nose , laws of flight say if the rudder goes right so will the helli or plane , this is slightly confused when your in the hover though . Beginners tend to focus on the tail espetualy while on the tail in hover but when forward flight is produced you automaticly follow the line of flight , if right was left and left was right nose in would be a doddle. Thats what I think

I was taught to fly on the{watching} rotor disc.Thats where it all happens doesn't it.
Although I do agree with the majority nose is the better part to fly by rather than tail.

I find it easier to fly the tail AND..... wait for it ....... I also have the Tail servo reversed. I find it alot easier to fly my heli that way. Only problem is, is when someone else flies it I have to remember to tell them that the servo is reversed but, to be honest I think it's personal preference, there's no right or wrong way, it's whichever you feel comfortable.

I disagree with the post above, there is a right and wrong way to fly a model, any model, be it a plank or a heli, the rudder control always makes the model spin to face the direction of the input, therefore in the terms used here, the rudder inputs should always reflect the nose, not the tail

Why do you think people have big bright canopies, and next to nothing visable at distance on the tail

You dont expect to get into a car and turn the steering wheel to the left and have the car turn to the right do you, a model is no different

          Cheers,
          Pete.

I fly the heli as a whole too, and I agree that the rudder stick steers the nose.

I was told to fly by the tail when I first started learning and it was a nightmare. As soon as I changed to the nose method I got on a lot better and saved on repair bills!! Ever tried nose in watching the tail???

As Jamez and others have said it's the rotor/mast you fly around and that basically means right stick and the nose should turn to right.

God only knows how you can fly it the other way, it would be like riding a bike with you arms cross

Did forget to flick the switch on the tx when swapping heli's, not good!

Don't tell me, the 2 guys who voted for tail also have it stick forward for nose up.

I've just been trying flying by the tail on the sim. It's not normal !!! Glad I changed before I got into that bad habit.

Hi guys, I'm new to this website but have been flying heli's for 3-4 years now on and off.... only circuits etc though, no 3D. I fly the nose as well tbh. Two reasons, I have flown planks for 10+ years and right rudder moves the model right (as it does for full size as well !) to go the other way for a heli just wouldn't have made sense. Also - nearly everyone else I know who flies helis does the same....

                      Cheers

fly the nose upright and the tail inverted

What's right and whats wrong? Any reason for chosing to fly the tail?
I fly the tail, the nose, the skids, the canopy & the disc. Depends how fast it's falling and how quickly the tail is spinning :P

Who on earth told you that!?
