phoenix online problems

each time i try and join an online session it tells me phoenix has stopped working and my only option is to close the program. i have this installed on two laptops (both on now) and have the same problem with both. one laptop is a new install for phoenix, the other was installed months ago and was working last time i tried, about 5 months ago (moving house has meant that i have had no time to use for some time) any ideas please to sort this out. there are no other internet issues with either laptop. i have just got the heli out after moving and would like to continue my learning

This was a problem on one of the Beta's earlier this year.

Run the updates and try again.

i started the download of version 3 last night. it managed about 140 meg of the 190 needed and then crashed. this took about 2 hours?

What crashed? Phoenix or your laptop? you can download the update manually from Phoenix's website and install it manually.

the download just stoped at 140meg and would do no more (after 2 hours).it offers me the choice to download version 3 each time i turn on. i am currently trying again, but again it is saying it will take 3 hours. is this normal for it to take this long?

I did it the other day, it took 20 mins max.

I think i did it from the 3rd mirror though.

A mirror is a site that holds a copy of the file your after, the more mirrors, the more places have it, so if one site is slow, choose a different "mirror".

1/2 way down the page. choose which file is needed then click on mirror 3, if it seems slow, try mirror 2 ...etc, until you get the best download speed.

thanks, all makes sense now. if i had gone to the phoenix site in the first place, rather than updating from the sreen pop ups, i think it would have been far less frustrating
