        A few years back, the (reasonably knowledgable) owner of my LHS was trying to sell me a heli.

        I was adamant I was going to buy an Outrage G5 instead - a large part of this was because the head was programmable, so I could set it up for my lack of ability.

        His response was along the lines that BertK didn't need a programmable head on his T-Rex - so neither would I.

        This rather reinforced my view that the last thing I wanted was a heli 'just like the one that an expert uses'.

        Ben's spot-on here. The sensible punter picks a heli suited to their needs - rather than one they've seen a heli-god perform with.

            I agree with the addition that spares backup is an important factor as evidenced by a few good heli's disappearing from the scene
