I had.... HAVE the same problem with my Zoom... once it's 20ft up, and 30ft away, it's impossible to tell which way it's wandering.. Black legs and skids probably don't help... But I have found a solution, albiet an expensive one....
Buy a bigger heli... !! I found a 2nd hand Voyager E, with a Bell230 fuselage (a plain airwolf) and with it's flat belly and wheels, I find it ALOT easier to keep level at a distance.. The wheels especially, are easy to keep an eye on... I still can't fly the zoom on a decent circuit, but it's better for nose-in practice, as it's more twitchy, and cheaper to fix.. !!
