If you don't want bigger than 550 size you could take a look at the Gaui X5 or Logo 500.

I love my FBL Gaui X5 BeastX combo, then again you also can't go wrong with a Logo!
Why not have a go on the sticks of both and then make your decision (bit difficult with current weather conditions).
If you still have not made a decision by the time the temperatures have risen to positive figures why not come up to our patch and sling my X5 around!

Cheers for the suggestions guys, I think it will be the logo 400, looks a nice bit of kit. So obviously v bar will be going on it but what's servos and will the hacker motor and esc be ok or should I change out for a scorpion and castle creations?Goblin 700

Mslater on here had a logo 400 and had nothing but problems with it, I flew it and was not happy with the way it flew.
I'd recommend a Protos 500, I think you get the flybar and FBL in the box.Paul.

the mini's a 450 size, but I've not flown one, I know the 500 is a nice flyer, and more space to fit electronics.Paul.

I was going to suggest the same thing especially as it can be bought in FBL version.Originally posted by waveydavey View PostCompass 6HV, awesome machine.
After doing a few sums the other day I realised that the cost difference between the 6HV & TREX 550 is not that much at all (the difference in FBL models is even less than the differences in cost of the FB models).
After looking at the numbers Im now starting to wonder why so many go for the Rex 550 and not the 6HV.
The quote below indicates that the limitation on the size of the heli that has been imposed is due to cost and not other factors.
If I have understood this correctly does this also preclude the logo from the selection. I know they have a reputation for being costly but I have no idea how much a 400 costs.Originally posted by cupracing View Postyes I understand this, which is why I also asked what electronics to use. I dont have a size in mind to be honest. Only know I dont want anything bigger than the 550 as I cant afford it.
Finally another alternative is an Atom 500. The kits can be had pretty cheap from EvolutionRC (£220). The heli flies great and can also be stretched to take 515mm blades if required. Think the stretch kit is about £80 in the UK but cheaper from Hong Kong. The FBL head also looks sweet and can also be had cheaper from HK.
EDIT:\ Just found my spreadsheet showing costs for 6HV vs TREX550.
6HV FBL with BeastX and DS610 & DS620 servos is £805
TREX 550 FBL with 3G and DS610 & DS620 is £694
This is a difference of £111
Prices are from FL except the 6HV kit itself.Last edited by bolders; 18-12-2010, 09:48 PM.Velocity 50 (w/ Rossi R57) | Atom 500 | T Rex 450V2/Sport Hybrid

Protos 500 is my current 500 sized heli.....Im using it as my night fly setup more than anything....they do fly VERY nice.....
My current setup is...
Carbon Protos 500 FBL
Mikado V5
Scorpion motor
Castle Creation ICE 75
Futaba S9257 with metal gears on the head
JR DS3500G on the tail
Maniac mains and KBDD tails
Using various 2600mah packs and getting 5mins of pretty hard flying with abit to spare on the 80% rule. Im just abit of a Mikado fan....nothing wrong with the Protos, its I just fancy trying a Logo 400.
