Just curious as to what little video cams anyone is using. Only for fun, not proffesional use. I've seen a few of the flycamone vids on youtube but the quality doesn't look that great although it does give a lenghty runtime with a big SD card. Anybody got/used one and what other cheapish cam setups are there about.

Agreed, but that's a pretty good camera (in an attempt to ignore the amazing mechanics this boy has put into his hobby). Pictute quality for such a small one is pretty impressive. And that's 2.4gig I guess, on an electric model.Trex 500CF - GY401 with S9254, HS-5245MGs, Torque Tube, AR7000..

This is what I use...

Although that one needed a bit of vibration damping.
It's not broadcast quality but it is cheap at £37. Runtime is about 5 1/2 mins.

The heli one looks interesting... Maybe a side view or nose mount? The cnaopy might absorbe some vibration?
Interesting though.. Might have to invest in one.
Does it transfer and charge off your USB port?Trex 500CF - GY401 with S9254, HS-5245MGs, Torque Tube, AR7000..

Yes it does.
It also has a sound recorder which, with another piece of freebie software, can be used to measure the flypast speed of Zagis and the like by working out the speed from the doppler effect. I clocked my zagi at 104mph and a mates 4 cell setup at 128 mph

(black lines is the prop)
Next vid is going to be side mounted or tail mounted cam.
also it is best to have the unit in offline mode as on my first attempt it started ringing and form the ringtone I know it was the missus (they do know when to call don't they)Last edited by Nutz; 30-05-2007, 01:39 PM.Raptor 50 V3 Titan

Thanks for the input guys, the 2.4ghz is a little OTT but very impressive. I think Leebert's is looking like a strong contender, 40 notes doesn't seem bad.Velocity 50

What software do you use for working out the speed?
Fixxxer I have the same camera as Leebert. If you follow the link below you can see some inflight footage from my TRex600

Chopper Cam2 and Chopper Cam3 are mine also. I think the quality on YouTube is a little less than the actual video produced, but it gives an idea of what can be achieved with a cheap solution.

The application is WaveOscope and is here...
http://www.sprut.de/electronic/soft/scope.htm#download
It's in german but it is fairly straightforward to use. I think it only works with single engined planks with a 2 blade prop. Just feed it a WAV file and align some markers with the left and right mouse buttons and Bob's yer uncle
