i thought about needing stabilisation, then remembered dave hollins is using a 6 blade on his CH-53 without stabilisation, so it cant be that hard

I think it looks good but I have a couple questions as I dont know anything about multi blade set ups:

            1. As you have more blades producing more lift do you have to run a slower head speed or does it not matter?

            2. Apart from the loops and rolls shown in the video is it possible to do any other 3d?

            3. Does the gyroscopic disc become more 'intense' due to more blades requiring better servo's?

            4. How does the pitch thing work? Do all blades move or just one or two and the rest keep the heli stable?
            Nik.

            Before you ask:

            About 2 miles
            Over £500
            Very difficult
            Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

Don't forget the 'Search' and 'Thanks' buttons.

Are you heading towards a scale fuse on that Chris? Looks interesting. Good luck for the test.

right, its been tested (kind of) i went to take off and the tail is just not powerful enough so it went round, i then chickened out and went home to fit the 2 bladed head back on so now it looks like this. i think ill stick to 3d with a 2 blade head.

                      1. When I was researching my setup, I was told 1700rpm was the optimal HS. However, I ran my head at 1200, 1400 and 1650 with no noticeable difference in performance.

                      2. Can't answer that from my side. I expect you could do mild 3D, but the load on the head would be heavy.

                      3. From experience, yes. I originally used Futaba 3152 servos (5kg), but after seeing the disc oscillate in a gust, I went for Ace 12kg MG servos. The multi head load is immense considering most pilots would fit 600mm blades on a 50 size head. As a comparison, 5 x 530mm blades = 120% more blade area compared to 2 x 600mm blades.

                      4. All blades move in unison when pitch is applied. The mechanics are the same as with 2 blades, but the pitch can be different. i.e. hover at 3 degrees as opposed to 5 degrees.

right, its been tested (kind of) i went to take off and the tail is just not powerful enough so it went round
I had the same problem and fitted 90 size tail blades on my MD500.
