Anyone been using Model Technics Sicel fuel ??
If so what did you think of it ?
Any issues with the colour ?

I have been using Sicel 10% nitro with 18% EDL in my Rappy 50 with my hyper for well over 5 months now and must say i have not had any issues with it, its cleaner and not as messy and it dont smell that bad either !
The only problem i found was the colour ! once in the tank its hard to tell how much is left while flying, it seems to blend in with the colour of the fuel tank and look transparent, i have been messing around adding dyes to change the colour and have come up trumps, very high visable and you can see whats in the tank from 50 feet away, 100% better !

I cant go into details as to what i have done or the colour as i am working with M/T on this but its a big improvment over the orange.

Would be intrested in any comments regarding this fuel and its colour, what are your expereances with it ?

    Thanks in advance.

I am tempted to try Propower 25 but how bad is the smell now

We used to dye fuel years ago for heli use,it was a powder and just the very end of a terminal screwdriver dipped in it was enough to colour a gallon of fuel a bright day glo purple.

I have been using M/T fuels for about 6 years now, Propower 25 for the last year or so and now having finished up the Bekra I had in stock, 10% in my training models too. I have to say I really like Propower, it certainly makes the engines run well.

I find it works particularly well when used together with one of the new M/T Maxflash M7 plugs, this combination is my standard recommendation to anyone new to IC or model helis in general.

I dont actually mind the smell, I know some comment on it, but it really doesnt bother me in the slightest. As for the colour, yes it could do with standing out a bit better in the tank, but then in bright sunshine and at distance, most fuels are hard to see. I have got pretty good at judging flight times now so it really isnt too much of an issue for me.

        Cheers,
        Pete.

I would suggest trying two to four gallons if you want to dabble with fuels. Reason being that I find it best to acclimatise an engine to a new fuel with the first gallon running nice and rich, then tweak and tune it in to the fuel to get the power right. Then have a gallon or two to fly on it to see how it fares in use over a couple of dozen or so flights having been tuned in etc.

            Cheers,
            Rob

Talking of fuels LHC has their offer of free delivery to a TNT depot near you for collection. When you actualy go through the order proces they want to charge you £9 for delivery to your door! whats all that about?

Due to my local heli shop being 15 miles away I'm thinking of coming away from MT propower & maybe trying wildcat delivered to my door, thats unless some one out there can get pro power delivered to my door.

I had a gallon of Techpower 16, but found the smell awfull, so did everyone else on the field, I was bought a gallon of Go-Go which I am now 1/2 way through, doesn't smell, and seems to be ok.

Couple of points here for you to ponder on :

The smell to me is not that bad, it's just getting used to it !
Also the smell changes with diffrent types of engine, 2sk, 4sk and heli all smell diffrent to each other, smells worst in a 4sk.

As for running in there should be no noticeable diffrence, the tuning range is far wider than any other fuel and you do not have to re-tune your engine, leave it as it was, i used to run Wildcat then changed to Sicel and left all the setting as they were before the change.

My setup is a Raptor 50 with OS50 hyper and MP2, power is the same but far less messy, no sticky crap everywhere and runs cooler so a big plus point.

Visability is a issue at present but should be rectified shortly if all goes well to high vis redish pink dayglow, i have been using it for a while now and its 100% better than the orange.

Possable another chance is a 16 or 20% nitro variation.

I am in now way connected with Model technics but back the new fuel 100% and with the addition of the new colour and niro content possable on the horizan it can only be an added bonus to us Heli flyers

Plus remember you get a whole UK gallon, not some 6/8 of a gallon like most fuels for your Buck !

Does anybody else find that the uk fuels have less power than the yank stuff with the same nitro content? When ever i switch a club mate from weston, beckra or MT to Magnum they have a good amount more power and in most cases run cooler and smoother.

I haven't used enough UK made fuels to be able to compare, but I know both Wildcat and Magnum deliver excellent power and do indeed run cool.

                          Cheers,

chap's what you have to remember there are two ways nitro is measured :

By weight and % of the volume or a forgiven gallon,
ie 10% nitro in weight is more then 10% capacity !
Hence UK fual is done the right way and US is done by weight, the only problem of measure of weight is when the nitro start to evaporate the value drops, UK is done by volume.
so in fact you get more nitro per ltr than the US fuel
Fly it like you stole it !!!
