  • Great Day

Test flew a mini Titan for a club member,
it flew surprisingly well for a little electric
the wind was a bit gusty but it handled it well,

Setup another members gyro, he’s happy

Got my hyper engine to run well and managed to do my first Tic Toc’s

    I’m very happy

I have heard many people say the same thing about the mini titan, it is a great little model for sure. I flew one in a moderate wind some time ago, which even with an underpowered motor and li-po it did exceptionally well for its size. I am about half way through building one myself, which I am looking forward to putting through its paces when I finally get it built

I'm glad you got that hyper sorted out

    Cheers,
    Pete.

      Hi Raptorite

The person who had the M titan bought it to see if he could learn to fly heli's,
      (He's an expert plank flyer)
He asked me to test fly it and give him his first lesson,
As it was so stable and setup for gentle flying he had ago and took to it like a duck to water, hovered at head hight in the wind for about 3mins and landed no problem,
For anybody's first fight it was brilliant, and I'm sure the stability of the Titan helped,
After his fight he said he now wants to master heli's and he's going to get a ic 50 titan this week and if I get him through his A he's going to give me the M Titan, (He's loades of money)
So judging by the way he's taken to it looks like I'll have a M titan f.o.c. very soon

BTW thinking of getting a new pipe for the hyper, do you have any recom's for a reasonably price one that works well with the hyper.

      Cheers

          Hi Jamie

It did go through my mind,
only thing is he likes to buy new, (from Rod at Elite) I know, I know,,
He also wants to build it from scratch,

I'll be seeing him tonight at the committee meeting, I'll try to convince him yours is the best option,

I'll PM you with the outcome later,,

            Tripler,

Sounds great about the mini titan, Im sure once you get it you will have allot of fun with it

For an exhaust on the hyper, there are three main ones to consider, one aspect is noise, so depending on how good your ear drums are and whether the site you fly at is noise dependant or not. If noise isnt too much of an issue, you might want to consider the Muscle pipe 2, it has a harsh sound to it but helps the hyper deliver the power well. If on the other hand noise is more of an issue, about the quietest around is the zimmerman muffler. It makes engine tuning a dodle and really works well, especially where governors are concerned as it isnt too critical on rpm range to deliver the power. For something in the middle, the one to look at is the hatori range of mufflers, they offer good value and work very well indeed.

            Cheers,
            Pete.

Thanks for the in depth info and advice Raptorite

Noise shouldn't be a problem and other people seem to favor the MP2 so it looks like I'll give that a try,

              Cheers

                Hi Raptorite
you say you flew one with an underpowered motor and Lipo, was this the standard one, I have a Mini Titan, and think its great, but then as a novice, they are all good to me
What are you intending to use as motor and Lipo in the one you are building, I would be interested to know.

I have found the Hatori 521 to be a little more powerful than the MP2 on my Hyper 50. The MP2 is also very good and a chunk better than the Zimmerman. MP2 is possibly easier to tune in than the Hatori, but theres not much in it.

Noise-wise, the Zimmerman is quietest, MP2 is loudest, Hatori is between the two.

                  Cheers,

The model I flew had a standard 2800Kva motor out of a Trex 450X, and the li-po was an 11.1v 1600Mah at about 10C I believe. On this model we tried both the standard 13 tooth pinion and the larger 15 tooth one, the 13 tooth made it feel very sedate but still flyable and with the 15 tooth pinion it was more lively but still sedate. Mind you the rotor head was setup in beginner mode, so the balls were on the inner holes on the washout etc.

The standard motor that comes with the Mini Titan is a 3200Kva so is more powerful and should be fine. The model I am building at the moment has the standard TT motor, speed controller and Li-Po, which should have the model buzzing around quite nicely.

                    Cheers,
                    Pete.
