  • Selling 2nd Hand

I'm not having much luck at selling off either of my Millenniums. I've listed them both twice on eBay now, and the most either of them got to was £128 or something equally as daft.

Now, I think I need to rethink. Is it better to sell them complete with servos, engine, muffler, battery, gyro, blades etc?

I've been trying to sell just the airframes, as I'm planning to get a new 90 heli, but I'm starting to wonder now if I should try and sell them complete, cut my losses and buy all new gear for the new heli.

What do you think? Is it easier to sell 2nd hand helis complete?

Of course, the asking/reserve price is going to be higher, but will people pay more for a more complete package?

The sad thing about this is an indication of just how low the Millennium has slipped in the world of RC helis. It's still an outstanding helicopter, which still comands a 'new' kit price of around £800, but I suppose the new generation of Synergy, Vibe, Stratos etc have blown it away, and it's no longer 'cool' to have a Mille at the field.

ive found it easier to sell it complete, ive just sold my titan setup (with a new hyper) for £600 all in, which i think is a fair price. if it has just been air frame alone, im sure it would have gone for a lot less than its worth, maybe around a hundred. Plus its nice to start over with fresh everything

It does seem that Milli's are now untrendy, and do not fetch much secondhand. I don't think its worth selling it ready to fly as from what I have seen they still don't seem to sell for much.

Late last year I purchased a ready to fly Milli, with all reasonable radio gear on Ebay for £250 it came with two canopies and two sets of blades as well
I wanted a spare airframe in case I trashed mine so I sold all of the radio gear and engine for a total of £366 ending up with a profit and a spare airframe.

Unless you are dead set on getting shot of the Mill's, I would have a rethink and maybe hang onto them. Unless you are a good 3D flyer, would you really notice the difference between the Milli and a new trendy 90 (except for your wallet of course!!)

      Cheers

Fair point, but I've set my heart on a new 90 size heli, and space is at an utter premium in my little shed, so I really need to get rid of one helicopter - that's the plan y'see - get rid of both the Milles and then get a new 90, which satisfies my thirst for a new one, and sorts out the space issue by removing one heli from my fleet total.

I just need to try and make a few quid to soften the blow to the wallet of the new one, but don't want to let stuff go for silly money.

ive had the same results with 2 raptors ive been trying to sell.

with the 30 ive come to the conclusion my options are upgrade it to a 50 or load it with the gear that was in it when I got it, which are adequate but not great. and sell it all up.
          All the best

I think you would regret letting them go for the sake of it mate.
            I'd sell complete.

Saying that....I advertised my Rappy60 complete and ready to fly with O.S61, 3152's,9254,GY401, revlock 20, receiver, carbon upgrades, NHP blades etc.
Had reserve set at £400 and it never made it.

            'Balls' I thought

I stripped it out, readvertised it as Airframe/Engine/Blades only, started it at 99p no reserve & it made £360

            Work that one out
            Cheers,

            Gazza

there is just mo sense to it.

I advertised my rappy 60 as I said £700 retail price, was expecting 250-300 it made £140.

yet someone today has paid £46 plus postage for a used zimmerman muffler I think there about £50 new. it just doesnt make sense sometimes.

I think whatever you advertise if your lucky and match it up to someone that wants it then your onto a winner, its just picking that time right.

as they say if we could do that we would all be millionaires

Problem with auction site's and the like is that you need 2 people to want it bad enough to bid against each other.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                And a DX8 too

Personally mate, I would sell it complete. I had the same issue as Gazza but it was with my old Concept.

All good comments, but every time I list one of them on the site, it costs me about £9 in charges, and I've done it 4 times already (twice for each heli)!

I think I'll have one go at selling one complete and see what happens.

Then the thing to do next time is start it at 99p so it costs next to nowt to list it, get a mate to win the auction if you're not happy with the price in say the final 30 mins, both agree not to proceed with the sale via the dispute console & you get your listing fees back.

Not that I have ever done it
                      Cheers,

I always start all my auctions at 99p. The listings cost a bundle when you start adding loads of photos and highlights etc, which I do with helis.

I might not bother this time, and simply say 'contact me for photos'
