  • T-Rex 450 head phasing

    Hello,

    I put on some lighter paddles on my 450 pro and noticed that the phasing wasn't "straight".
    Here are my settings, if anybody would like to try:
    AILE => ELEV: -12 % / -12 %
    ELEV => AILE: 12 % / 12 %

    For testing, program the mix only for idle-up 2, and compare with idle-up 1.
    With correct phasing, the heli should lean neither left nor right, when giving gentle elevator input.

    So is that giving some up elevator with right aileron? ('can't tell what it's actually doing without putting it into the TX to see).

    If so, that seems to be the most commonly needed mix.

      Hi,

      On forwards elevator input, the mix tilts the swash towards the left.
      On right aileron input, the mix tilts the swash forwards.

      The phasing happens above the swashplate, and therefore the correction needs to be symmetrical to make sense. Effectively, the settings from my earlier post advance the timing, relative to the direction of rotation.
      For example, if maximum cyclic pitch should be facing towards the nose, the mix applies it a little bit earlier, effectively pointing slightly left.
      The same for right aileron input (now pointing slightly forwards), backwards elevator (pointing slightly right) and left aileron input (pointing slightly backwards).

        Interesting. That's the opposite of what generally is needed to correct the natural tendency to roll right with back elevator or pitch down in a right roll and vice versa.

          hmm i've yet to find a standard flybared align machine that flies straight, no i'm not align bashing! i have 700 which is very good but thats not 100% accurate but about the best out of all the aligns, phasing does vary with response, which affected by RPM ,blades and paddles
          cheers Lee

          If it ain't broke fix it until it is
          yes i'm an idiot and no i couldn't care any less
