  • align 91 muffler coming loose

i bought some longer nuts at m4 50mm and some aerotight nuts but coz of the shape of the muffler i cant put the nut on. i can just put the bolt .any ideas guys

    thanks

I used a file to make a flat spot for the nut. I also had to file 'sideways' towards the exhaust port in order to make enough room for the nut (not very easy to describe so perhaps I'll try and take a picture). Was definitely a pain doing this and I don't see why they don't design these things with enough room to add nuts in the first place -this really shouldn't have to be a mod.

Yep, I too got a file to it and although it may take 10mins or so its worth it.

Also try while your doing it to fit to the engine and keep putting the bolt through and seeing where the nut is cos you can get it so the nuts rests against the muffler therefore not needing you at an awkward angle with a pair of pliers on the nut while trying to do up the bolt.

      Make sense??

I simply re-tighten mine while the engine is hot and that does the trick for me, it's been a long long time since I had an exhaust come loose .
        No additional nuts here

Get some spring washers and put them under the head of the bolt. That did the trick for me.

You might be able to get a helicoil fitted in it to save your align pipe
