  • 'Sorry for your loss' rant

OK, I know it can be gut wrenching/jaw dropping or plain funny when anyone crashes their heli/plane. But we do know it goes with the hobby, right!

I understand sympathy & empathy, but being 'sorry for your loss' is a bit overboard don't you think?

I come from a good old Irish background, so when some one was 'sorry for your loss' the person receiving these condolences, were in a very bad place indeed.
In my view, it does not transfer to crashing a heli & feels over the top for a crashed inanimate object, one that can be readily built again - or indeed replaced if needed.

Even the length of the threads for those 'popular' forum posters who crash, offering deepest sympathy & concerns for their loss, seems like an over the top post. Maybe there's some psychological Alpha/pack message in there some where, but that's beyond my ability.

I'm not attempting to pooh-pooh crash posts, or even stop folks offering sympathy or light hearted ridicule. But the object has not died, it can be fixed so being 'sorry for your loss' - come on, PPppLeeease. It's not a friggin grave yard.

    Rant over.
You can teach a man everything. Apart from experience.

Yeah, I almost wish there was a 'commiserations' button - like the 'thanks' one.

A few of the recent crashes have been people I know and like - I want to be sympathetic, but really don't have anything to add.

I have to agree with Mick here.

It's only a helicopter you have crashed, hardly life of death.

It might only be a model helicopter crashed, but when their other half finds out, then that "sorry for your loss" may well be a much needed statement when she's cut your b*lls off

The only thing I was concerned about when I totally trashed my new 550 was the fact that no one was hurt and the real bloody annoyance at myself for letting it get too far away!

Sure it was an expensive clanger but hey it was my fault and it cost me dear

No need for sad messages and lesson learnt before next flight

I must admit, I find everybody's crashes but my own really rather funny.

I especially love watching crashes, chicken dances etc on YouTube.

Here's one now. What makes it especially funny is that we all know he'll never get the parts!

It's a trait of mine I'm not proud of. I often laugh at the misfortune of others.
