It is if they are fully charged, and the temperature may drop significanly whilst they are in storage to that temperatire at which they were originally charged.

        You & me both, Rachel.

Edmund, sorry to read about that. I've not done that particular trick, but I have done some equally stupid tricks. Hope you get it flying soon.

            Edmund,

I've done similar - TX battery alarm went off when I was doing a set-up hover after a repair, I thought "I'll be fine for a minute to finish setting up", Tx shut down 40 seconds later leaving the heli to crash - another repair / set-up needed .

Add to that trying to fly with the wrong model set in my pre model-match days on a Futaba, lift off, tip over, walk of shame, collect pieces, go home

Bit of an update. Stupidity costs more than I expected!!!!!!!

I did not get round to fixing the G5 until yesterday, because I have been fully occupied with other projects, and in fact have not flown an R/C helicopter since my little incident. However yesterday I had a couple of flights with the 250 and was pretty pants…. The near 2 month break in flying really showed.

So I decided to fix the G5 – it was only the gentlest of crashes, effectively a fail-safe self auto from about 6 or 7 feet, and would be a quick and cheap fix.

I cannot believe the damage – much more than some previous quite major prangs!

              Set of Radix carbon blades
              Flybar-rod
Tail boom (only very slightly bent)
              Main shaft
Two HS-5056 MG’s destroyed – one went up in smoke when I powered on, the other has smashed gears.

I had 3 new HS-65HBs in the cupboard that I got for the 250, but ended up putting HS-65MGs in it instead, so I have replaced the 3 HS-5056 MGs in the G5 with the 3 HS-65HBs and it will be interesting to see how they, and I fair. The are almost ½ the price, so it will be interesting…..

I also put on a pair of the standard G5 glass fibre main blades from one of the un-built G5 kits I have.

I want to see if I notice the effect of the cheaper kit at my basic level.
