  • Cable soldering and protection

My heli came with the wires for the Lipo alarm connected. It was a neat job. The connection seems to be covered with a plastic sleeve that has shrunk on the cable to keep it tight and compact.

My last smash managed to pull a wire out of the connection. The sleeve is still on, but, is there a way to loosen the sleev, so that I can re-attach the wire?

Nope you will have to get some new heat shrink tubing and redo it,

      Thanks.
What size would I need, and also, what do you need to shrink it?

Get a piece large enough to slide over the joint easily but not too large as it will not shrink enough.

I use a hair dryer to shrink it.

A heat gun is too hot IMHO.

        Cheers

What size is the norm for Sevo cables and power cables (Lipo to ESC)?

Depends if you have to pass the heat shrink over any large components. The stuff comes as a tube which you feed over the wires.

For a servo plug I guess its about 15mm you need.

                Power cables would be smaller.

Measure your wire/component width and go from there.

                Cheers

I generally find that when jointing cables the heat shrink should reduce in size (width) by about 50% given a good blast of heat. eg 10mm & below.

And try ashtek, hes reliable http://ashtekelectronics.com/shop/heatshrink-c176.html

I've found Ashtek Electronics to be very good for heatshrink, connectors etc, Ash turns orders around quickly too.
