I have both of those models both running V Bar V5(fullsize unit with Spektrum connectivity)

I have had the Logo 500 for about 18 months now, never crashed it and its been no problem.I have had the 550 for about 5 or 6 months since they came out also never crashed it and not had a single problem with it,running stock electronics also apart from the V Bar.

They weigh almost the same and TBH apart from the fact that the geartrain on the Logo is a bit quieter i am hard pressed to choose between them in the air.

The Rex 550 does everything for me as well as the Logo and as you mentioned its cheaper to repair(apart from frames)

I have a Logo 400 and 600 also and have flown them all extensively and they also have been reliable but TBH i dont personally feel they are worth the extra money thats asked for them IMHO the Align airframes are generally of better quality now from what i am seeing my latest being the 700E which is a great model. Not saying every single one is as they are mass produced so there is bound to be the odd duff one but in general quality has got better.

I personally would not purchase another Mikado airframe myself,i have scratched that itch but if you went for the Logo you would not be dissapointed but likewise apart from the odd grumble you hear about some 550 tails i think that one would serve you well also.

I think every electric heli flier should experience a bit of Mikado ownership.
    Enjoy your choice..

      Thats an interesting post Chris.

I was beginning to be sold on the idea that the quality of Mikado kits justified the extra price. I've seen a couple of 550s and their owners really rate this machine - one said he preferred the flybarless 550 to his flybarred 700.

Still I find the Logo 500 a good looking machine and is still a bit more exotic.

There is certainly something about the Mikado models for sure,i suppose its the typical German engineering, everything just goes together well and just works, you can definitely sense the pedigree of the model and they do indeed have a unique look and feel.

But as you said i find the general concensus from 550 owners is that they rate them very highly also.

I suppose my head would say get a 550 but my Heart would say get a Logo.

Get a Logo, you won't regret doing so or wonder what any other model flys like as you be out busy flying it. The Logo's fly like nothing else, and have an unique quality as you would expect from the German side.

Don't buy a Logo if you enjoy fixing problems because you won't be getting them...

I upgraded from a Logo 500 to the 600, both fly very similar. You won't catch me buying any other helis.

I've flown Chris's Logo and I though it was great. Certainly better to fly than my 550e.

Although I don't own a logo I have great respect for them as flying machines!

If you think that you are going to crash a few times, my advice would be get the Gaui 550, cheap as chips to buy and fly and cost next to nothing to repair.

Use this save more by not buying expensive parts for the others that you mentioned, when you have perfected the 3D, buy anything that you like with the money that you have saved.

                Cheers,

                Fred

Remember the SE is practicaly a Logo 600 & is not a comparisom with the 550E & Logo 500. IMO it's best to skip the 500SE & go straight to the 600 on 10s or 12s or go 550E or 500
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

Well 3 weeks without my Rex 550 has proven too much so I have crumbled and ordered one from good old Century rc,could not get a deal anything like it in the uk £495 posted ems for the full 3G combo.you need to be logged in to get the deal. Will sell the 3G of course.

Selling it was a big mistake but I am actually in profit at this price.

Did you pay any Customs duty?
                            How much?
                            How quick was delivery?
Not ordered high value items from abroad as savings seem small when you add customs and Royal Mail charges and no where to take it back to if any problems.
                            Cheers

Just ordered it now,may be duty to pay on it but will deal with that if it happens, ordered several times from century rc before and been hit about 25% of the time but the duty is still far far less than uk price.

EMS delivery time is normally 4 to 6 days to the uk from HongKong,I will advise how the order goes and when it arrives but never had a problem from any of the Far east suppliers to date.
