  • Empty field ??

Turned up this afternoon to an empty field. Wind was a bit gusty, but nothing like we've had just lately and brilliant sunshine. I was the only one at the field

Had my Trex 500 with the new Beast X and RJX head to maiden. This was absolutely fabulous. Apart from changing the gain setting to extreme, I've not touched any of the default settings. Totally locked in, gives you loads of confidence.

Managed a few more flights on my vision comp with the Beast X. Again, with it now set to extreme its perfect for my style of flying. Never had it a foot off the deck inverted and nose in.

Finally, after rebuilding the engine on my 700N fbl, I finally got to maiden her. After seizing on my first start up a month ago (second hand engine with a rusty bearing, unknown to me ), I had to replace practically everything inside except the crank, so was a bit twitchy on the first spin of the starter. Proved to be a non event, motor and heli flew superb.

Even managed four packs through my plank. What an absolutely brilliant day. Don't normally enjoy flying on my own, but when you have so much stuff to test fly, I couldn't of asked for a better day. Best day out in the past 18 months.
    Cheers,
    Simon

Ended up in my T-shirt. Was 12-13 degrees in the sunshine, bit fresh but not cold. The field is quite sheltered with tree's, so keeps the worst of the wind off.
          Cheers,

Same for me at my flying field - except it was yesterday and to be honest most Saturdays I'm the only one there. Club has 45 members and pretty much most Saturdays I'm on my tod.. great for flying, but a bit boring in between

Couldn't agree more. I like being able to fly as much as I can, but there's normally a bit of friendly p*ss taking going on which makes it far more enjoyable.

Went to our field this afternoon, and the entire membership was there - all 4 of us!!

Nice to have some company for a change, but I didn't fly as much as usual.

Same happened to me yesterday, around 80 members, and I was the only one there on a Saturday morning ! Still got 3 tweaking flights in all within a hour and half, small breaks and warm coffee in between. Still all a bit boring when not flying !

Good pictures of your fleet Si - I had an excellent day - see my post. Yes I was alone on the slope. The second guy left after 15 min saying "You've to be to mad to be flying today"

I haven't been sloping for years, still miss it. Some of the best flying on the slope used to be in the winter. I used to fly at Bradgate park in Leicester as a kid. Real rough slopes but super smooth when covered in snow.

Sounds like it was much colder up your way, than in sunny West Sussex.
