Good greef this thing is awesome!!! I have been watching endless YouTube vids of lucky sods flying their 3D Rigids and have come to the conclusion that I need one!

I love the fact that it is so different to any other heli it really is a beautifully crafted bit of kit!

I cannot justify owning one at my current level of flying, however, as there is a waiting list till June 2011 it gives me a chance to improve my skills till then.

So the big question is, who here owns one and how much is it for just the airframe?

Very very FAST birds, take a lot of room and you really need to be on your game to keep them in check as they're a tad slippery on the move! Build quality is awesome but comes at a price... speak to Revolution models.

Thanks for the heads up guys, but have my heart set on a 3D Rigid!

Just picked up a set of BLS252's from Ben (thanks buddy) to get the project started, its gonna be slow, but not to bothered as I have some stuff to sell to fund this expensive purchase.

Got a KTM 690 Duke 2 and a Marin Palisades MTB for sale if anybody is interested.

I think I saw one at the MK flyin this year. I say 'think' because I didn't ask or have a real close look. It was flying with a very low headspeed and sounded pretty cool.

They are very futuristic and the design is very well thought out. I had a read through the website a while back and found it all quite interesting.

There was one flying at MK but it was not at its best. It needed more headspeed but the guy wasn't listening to those around him who knew better.

There is no comparison between the 3DNT and the 3D rigid. The 3DNT being nitro doesn't even come close to the power to weight ratio of the electric.

Have those who 'know better' ever owned and flown a rigid?

I have 3D'd a rigid (TDR) with a little over 1000 rpm on the head. It does not need a high RPM to do it's stuff. It flies like no other machine out there.

I have the XL-E flybarless, which is still head and shoulders above anything else, but the TDR takes helicopters to a whole new level..........If you have the money!

I pleased that this thread made me go read up on this heli..
Henseleit 3D Rigid: The Story Behind the Machine | RC Heli Resource

For the same flight condition, “hovering on the spot” you need with 1300 rpm head speed about 570W while at 1850 rpm 1000W already required. With over 2100rpm it’s already 1500W required, almost triple the amount, although it does nothing more than float.

..for the excercise I took a 700watt draw for happy gentle flying and 2x5000mah 6S packs... theorteically you get almost 14 minutes... cut that to the 20% rule and allow for losses and you can still be talking 10mins for sunday sports flying on a pack pair...

Yeah, almost Nitro times on a leccy! This heli has somewhat of a split personality, on the 1 hand is gentle and nimble and on the other can achieve 233km/h - (sounds like a Star Wars Pod Racer!!!!!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBnk1KPgjdI&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - 233[/ame] and then do insanely hard 3D smackdown effortlessly!

Yes I read the same thing the other day about the headspeed, it almost made me turn the headspeed down on the Srimok E Vbar today....... almost. Next time.
