  • Spektrum DX 8 Bind Issue

    Good Evening,

I have spent a few hours trying to get my DX8 Tx to bind to the supplied [and a second] Rx with no success. Each unit will bind, with/without satellite Rx but as soon as the bind plug is removed, either "live" or after switch off, the Rx lights go out. This symptom is the same with either a NiMh 4.8 Volt with a 3 wire switch harness or with a 3 cell LiPo connected through the Esc to throttle port. At bind time, the unit correctly identifies an 11mS frame rate on the 8000 and setting it to 22mS makes no difference. The same happens with an AR 7600. The 6000 range is correctly set to 22mS frames at bind time and continues to work when the bind plug is removed.

Sods law says that I have loaned my JR 9DSX to a mate, so cannot check with that Tx until late Sunday or even Monday

Any clue as to what I may be doing wrong would be very welcome. I have almost worn away the words on the user manual setup and, apart from the fact that I am already extremely "folically challenged", I would be tearing my hair out. Come what may, I will call Horizon on Monday morning, but right now, I'm snookered. Probably won't get back to the forum this evening, but as soon as I can, I will log in "on the offchance". Regards.

    Maurice.

Back earlier than anticipated Thanks for the replies so far, responses are:

Running Firmware 1.03 - latest. Redownloaded the .sax file, but the Tx does not [re]update - presumably 'cos it's not needed.

Location: Templecombe in S. Somerset, a goodly way from Bridgewater.

Results: No change. The tiny button on the Telemetry RX is difficult for me to see, never mind press, hold then apply power. I still need the Bind plug on the main switch harness to be present, as well as holding in that button to get the "blinking" lights pre switch on of the Tx. If I let go of the little button, the blinking light goes out on the Telemetry unit, so I have tried 2 further rebinds holding telemetry module switch in until the lights go solid on the main and satellite Rx's - FAIL - and then only holding in the switch until the Tx shows "Binding" then releasing. -FAIL.

Enough is enough for tonight, so I will try again tomorrow and, I guess, still telephone Horizon on Monday. Oh, the JR Tx is back with me, but no go on the 8000 or the 7600 but an AR7000 binds and plays properly. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

            Maurice.

Maurice I fly at Charlton mackrel once a week thats not far from you?
              where do you fly?

On my dx8 with 8000 I only need to bind the telematry thing for a couple of seconds when model turned on with the little plastic bit.
              Then the tranny after.
              hope you sort it
              Cheers Paul

                Good Morning Paul,

Charlton Mackrel is still a goodly step away. I fly - or will fly - with the Wincanton Falcons *very* close to Templecombe. I was a member and chairman for a few years back along in the early/mid 1990's, but am re-entering flying following an enforced six year break. I will talk to HH on Monday with a view to check/repair the gear. I still have a DX6 and DX7 bound to other models and will not be inconvenienced, just a little wait before the start of the winter project. Regards.

                Maurice.

while i was reading your chat with Milamber about DX8 Bind issues, I noticed that you fly near Bridgwater. I am based at Wellington and have not been able to find a local Heli club to join. Are you a member of a club out your way?
