Yep i flew my 700 in the comp.
Stu did put on a superb demo thats for sure, and i am hoping adie will let me have a go when they come back from italy on the 90, that could make my mind up

I have been going back over in my mind all the good and bad days with my old aurora.
The safest option is for me just to get another 700 but that would be the easy way out.
Elyq does at the moment hold favourite place just because it is new but that can hold it's own problems

Two very different heli's there. Not owned either but from what I have seen of both heli's go for the Aurora if you want a show off heli that deep down you really wouldn't want to crash (which could restrain your flying/enjoyment when flying it?) and the Ely Q's look to be great value heli's, flying much like other heli's in their class but being a whole lot cheaper to fix.

BUT......seeing as you already have a 700, the Ford of all .90's (and I mean that in a positive way), I would go for the Aurora as that special heli. Like the Ferrari you take out on those perfect sunny days.

I would go for the ElyQ 90 bec you have much better back up and surport from the manufacture and the price of spares are being looked into and they will be made cheaper to match if not better than other 90s on the market

I think the back up is there now for the aurora so that's sorted.


IMHO the ElyQ is amongst the bottom of the pile while the aurora is amongst those up the top.

Any top pilot will pick up a Heli, whether that be a belt cp or a srimok e and make it look the dogs dangles

Not saying the ElyQ doesnt have good back up as I am sure it does with Climbout/Evo behind owners.

I really dont know where this perception of bad backup comes from??? The Avant/Midlands backup is second to none

James, as said above, you will great backup whichever option you go for. Decisions decisions

Given the scarcity of Avant kits, you may have the luxury of time to decide.

Personally I have seen only a couple of ElyQ models, both 50s, and not sure I'd want to be investing in that brand. The Aurora is proven, fantastically capable and - as you seem to sell as regularly as you buy - retains good value secondhand. I doubt the same will hold true for the ElyQ.

But hey, I really miss my Robbe Futura SE, so what do I know?
