  • Budget "Beaters" ?

I just finished a "beater" for pushing and messing about.

    TZ Frenzy .50
ASP .52 Heli Engine - New
    J'EN Mini Pipe
Turnigy HS Metal Gear Servos on Cyclic
    GP750 Gyro
    Align DS620 on Tail
    Align 3in1 + Lipo

Total cost to get in the air was £350

    Heli
HobbyKing Online R/C Hobby Store : TZ-V2 .50 Size Nitro 3D Helicopter Kit
    Servos;
    HobbyKing Online R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy 620DMG+HS High Torque Digital Servo (MG) 10.6kg / .13sec / 52g
    Engine
    ASP 52HR Two Stock Engine(for Helicopter) [52HR] - $0.00 : Cyclone Toy & Hobby
    Exhaust
Just Engines J'EN Heli Mini Pipes

Looking forward to trying the new ASP engine as its a fresh alternative for the "learner" or hack heli.

What other budget routes are there to getting a .50 in the air ?

I only chose the TZ as it has majority of raptor parts.

These js models are great for the money. That model you have if I remember correctly is Trex at the front, Synergy in the middle and raptor at the back! They fly ok though.

...and you can use rappy 50 spares for the tail and main gear!

Hi Maderdog.. would this really be a "budget" beater in the long run.. how would you be getting spares at a reasonable cost? I only ask as I recall someone complaining about it not too long ago on HF?

Im building a heli for my brother to learn the basics with. Been buying all the bits second hand off here and ebay, you can end up with quite a good setup for very little money.

ElyQ Vision 50 ultimate v2 kit off ebay new in box - £105
            OS 50 Hyper - £65
            Align 50 pipe - £20
            GP750 - £45
            DS610's x3 DS620x1 - £80
            Align 2 in 1 & lipo - £22

Around £340 for a full setup

spares for the .50 are easy to come by its the .90 that seems to have parts issues.

and at $1.45 for a boom its pretty darn cheap !
