When I used to do a lot of moutain biking I had few pairs of neoprene socks that were so warm even in the coldest of weathers and I was just wearing bike shoes which are not waterproof of windproof.
Now got a good pair or fur lined welly type boots and a good pair of walking socks, over last winter with all the snow etc didn't get cold feet once.

I wear lots, but I've found that some thick, heavy clothing isn't actually all that warm. Clever layers, like I'm going to the arctic is the plan...Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

I either wear my riggers and think socks if it has been raining ior snowing or my walking boots if it is frosty. Never had an issue flying off the snow either, we jsut dig out a heli pad and take off/land on that

I got the £20 battery heated socks. I've tried them with NiMh D cell batteries and they do warm up just a little, just enough to take the chill off. But they work better with alkali cells like Duracells, although a lot more expensive. Use them as a 2nd or third pair of socks over your normal ones so you don't have to bother washing them.
I also use charcoal pocket hand warmers which are useful - especially when you put one behind the Tx inside my RadyowarmTx mitt.JR Vibe Fifty fb (YS56)

i seen those tresspass boot in tkmax yesterday for £30Originally posted by StreetDragster View PostCheers for all replies, i'll look into all leads.
Going away from the rigger/sock combo and researching the cold weather hiking boot style boots, would these being a decent buy? Similar in price to riggers
MENS STUNNING TRESPASS SNOW BOOTS SIZE 10 RRP £60 BLACK on eBay (end time 20-Oct-10 15:37:51 BST)
Or what about 'moon' boots
Campri Adult Mens Black Moon/Snow Boots 9-10 Ski NEW on eBay (end time 25-Oct-10 17:55:10 BST)
I don't do much cold weather walking etc, so these will generally be used for model flying, standing for long periods of time, stationary, on cold/icey/damp grass/mud. Plus occasionally walking in snow, if we have a similar winter to last year.
Thanks
Matt

Hunter neoprenes used to be the thing. Used to wear them for shooting and kept feet toasty. But not cheap!
To help, Pick up a pair of cheap salopettes off ebay... Warm, Lite, easy to move about in, Dont feel bulky, Windproof, waterproof, And you can kneel down in wet grass too... Always handy! and cheap!!!
And TK maxx is a great source of boots, sock and salopettes... As long as you dont mind last seasons colours !!!!!!SWRCH ,
Oh.. And a Helix 700 Gasser, Hv with SK540.....with SAB HPS head.

The tresspass ones are exactly the ones i have bought for this winter, from that exact seller also. Have tried them out at the field and found them very comfortable and warm, they seem to have a layer of air in them. LOL

How did you find them for sizing? I'm a size 10 shoe, and i'm wondering if i should get a slightly larger size to allow for thick socks.
Thanks
Matt
I've also got some snowboard pants from tresspass that are going to be fantastic for when it snows. LOL
