  • 600 Tail failures.

There was a thread about the 600 tail slider bushes shearing off causing crashes. I have not seen much about this lately, I assume it is still a problem?

As far as I can tell it was just the odd isolated incident so I'm not sure if it should be classed as 'a problem'. Let's not forget how many of these helis are out there.

I had one fail not so long back. Caused a bit of damage too.

I had only just rebuilt it from the big crash I had a few weeks back. I don't know if I had caused damage to it in the 1st crash but just couldn't see it. Then went put under some load it just let go.
        Thanks

No problems here! I think its was a few misfortunes.. from what I recall.. it was different things to do with the tail but we all blamed it on the slider

There were quite a few reports of this from the states as well. If you compare the slider bush to other Align helis you will find it is very thin. Being made of Aluminium and then hard anodised makes it slightly brittle. At the threaded end it is even thinner which is the point where they were breaking. IMHO Align should have redesigned the tail parts to allow for a slightly thicker slider bush. This part is too critical to leave to chance especially due to the costs involved when crashing.

J-S-Q, I agree that you have to take into account the number of heli's flying but how many slider bush failures of this type (fracturing), have been reported on other Align heli's?

I know there will be divided opinion on this one, but I am just trying to find out if this is still occurring.

Mine went while 200ft up 5 wks ago, luckily when i hit throttle hold it locked the tail with the heli facing me, so i auto`d it down no probs, this is on a le about a year old.

I'm still with J-S-Q, as was first time round, I was another one to read and understand that it was NOT the bush fracturing on every occasion.. other tail issues were reported within the same topic. If it was just on the bush fracturing.. it was just a handfull of people IF that many

If its that much off a worry, you can change the parts

Mine sheared during the build on Saturday... Not that impressed! Then to make things worse I damaged the tail fork threads trying to get the remaining slider out.
