  • Whats the best way to re-shape a new canopy

Just got a fusuno canopy for the 600 from F.L.

It's a nice V2 shape, well painted but it is out of shape and catches the main gear and aileron servos.

It would appear that they are all like this and require a little re-shaping.

Hot Rags, Steam, warm oven have all been sugested but can anyone describe the process fully, this is the first time I've attempted this.

    (ps Canopy is fibreglass)

Just pack it out with something soft , rags are fine and leave it overnight that should work.

Rachel is correct although when finished packing / spacing it out with rags etc apply a little heat to it with a hair dryer or similar then leave overnight.

        Job done.

Be careful not to over stretch or it will end up the other way, Miles apart.

As the folks above have said. Fiberglass never goes truly hard. You can shape it by blocking it out and leaving it for a while. When I fit race plastics on the race bikes the first time you fit them they are always tight. After being on for a week or so even in the cold workshop the glass moves and settles the the fit is perfect.

The K3D canopies always touch the tail control rod when you move the servo to the front of the heli. All I do is push a block of hard foam up the side of the canopy and the frame and leave it for a couple of days. After that it's fine.
