I live in the Isle of Man. I think there is some flying activity at Jurby, but given that it's a 90 minute round trip in the car for me I've never looked into it, it's just too far away for a few flights on the 500ESP and 600ESP. There is an informal site in the south on the hills (mostly slope soaring glider guys, they usually meet on a Sunday and Thursday). Sadly, both on Thursdays (working) and Sundays (doing full scale) I've never managed to meet up with them!
It might be worth giving Sean at Model Tech a call, he will know what's likely going on group-wise. Model Tech is here: Model Tech Isle of Man - Contact Us
As for me, I usually end up flying on my own (although occasionally I bump into one of the glider guys on the hillside). Fortunately there's masses of space out on the Stacks and you can get far enough away from where the hikers go. I know there are other heli guys in the island because Sean usually is repairing one of the helis they recently binned, when I go to get parts for the heli that I've binned :-)
I'm a bit geographically challenged at the moment - the office I'll be working at is in Union Mills. Although I've been there once before, I'm not too sure where it is as I was driven there by my work collegues.
So are you flying in a discrete bit of no where then?
Union Mills is not far from Douglas, you'll be able to drop into Model Tech during a break and find out more :-) It's in the Strand shopping centre, you can't miss it. (He's also got a 600E for sale with helicommand rigid if you're looking for upgrades :-))
Yes, I do fly in the middle of nowhere, there's a lot of space so long as you don't back into a hillside. The only problem with it is there are few takeoff/landing spots as it's mostly covered in heather (at least that stops the bits flying too far when I crash)
Ok, thanks, I'll see if I can get down there. I think I'm staying in a hotel in Douglas (no idea which one though).

I've permission to fly in farmers field and finding a spot in the rough ground and long grass can be tricky - although finding the same spot on landing is a lot harder. However, a dried cow pat is Nature's Own Landing pad for a small heli :-)

Did eventually get to Model Tech (who have a suprisingly large range of Align gear) and there's apparently a club near the rubgy club just outside Douglas (I think where the double roundabout is) where they fly mainly 500s.
Because I'm an idot, didn't actuallly think to ask for contact details or a club name....
