Take a pair of those video screen glasses you can get - I think some FPV pilots use them. Attach a video camera to the front so the glasses show you what you are looking at. Then have a version of a flight simulator running on a laptop that superimposes a model onto the video feed.
Then you can stand on your flight line and fly a virtual model with out all that inconvience of having to charge and fuel up and when it goes wrong to prize bits heli out of the mud.
I guess the downside is a) people are going to take the **** for flying without a model, b) when you do fly for real, it'll be a shock when your heli doesn't just respawn in front of you.
