What do you class as an ambient temperature? I have found the warmer the better in terms of performance.

i bought a heated pizza delivery bag from maplins last year, and that worked alright once it got started.

However be warned...left it on 4-5 hrs inside my car plugged to the fag lighter and hey presto....flat car battery,,,middle of winter, not good.

Thanks to gary from our site for getting jump leads.

Ambient temperature often gets used when people mean room temperature.
It's wrong of course but an understandable mistake.
Strictly speaking ambient just means "of the surroundings" so in the middle of a frosty winter field the ambient temperature could easily be -1°C

I've seen a few of these mini fridge cooler/heaters and haven't yet seen one with a thermostat.
They've just had a switch to select Cooler or Heater mode.
xygax's idea of adding your own thermostat makes sense to me.
Otherwise you'll be getting a toasty 50°C and I'm not sure that's a good temperature for lipos.

That is my understanding of ambient temperature as well, which was why I asked the question. Lipo's would definately struggle if the ambient temperature was -1 c

I agree, 50c might be a bit too hot. Does anybody know if the one on ebay that Glenj linked to is adjustable heat? I think 20-30c is about the temp I want my lipos at.

              What/where is jtf?

Tbh you'll be opening and closing the lid quite often through the day so I doubt it will get really hot. The model touring car boys use to charge them on there dash boards to get them as hot as they could lol think the brca have ban'd lipo heating now (funny that)
