    Hi Guys,

Some of you will know me well, some will have met me others probably haven't a clue who I am.

    So let me introduce myself.

up until 18months ago I posted here a lot, I was sponsored by a number of companies and promoted their products I chose those products because I believed in them and the people that ran the companies behind those products.

So what happened? I got bored. Not so much of flying but of the politics and bitchyness that seems to be deep in this hobby of ours.

before i go any further this isnt directed at any one person but a general view of my experiences over 15-20years that i flew various parts of the sport. Gliders fixed wing power and of course helis.

Part of the problem was a lot of pilots out there were desperate to be sponsored and would do anything for a freebee and the supposed prestige that comes with being "sponsored" I cant say I blame them for that but I wasn't one of them but i got tarred with the same brush.

Another part of the hobby is the politics. I personally saw some good people get power hungry on club committees and heard many stories members of clubs suing others and club committees that seem to think the members serve them, not the other way round like it should be. Some of the egos I encountered in that time were just incredible too how some of these people managed to maintain relationships in the working environment is beyond me.

the human race continues to amaze me and not in a good way.

So what do i do now? I play world of warcraft. It means I dont have to socialise with people that i dont want to... oh the joys of /ignore. Sure its not quite the same buzz as flying backwards inverted down the flightline at 3inchs and 60+ mph but it has its other pros which i doubt any of you would understand or even want to know.

the other question you might be asking is why am I posting this? Well I guess it was the fact that nobody is talking about the new TT titan X50. it brought it home to me just how fan boy helicopters are. Nobody seems interested in the latest toys and the improvements they bring even the impartial review websites have very little on it!

the real message is, take a look at how you act at your club, here and in the rest of your life and have a little reality check....

    and lastly....

      I have to agree 100%.
"Anger and Frustration bring the best out of my flying ability.. because generally I don't give a shit either if the machine hit's the deck or stay's in the air - both will accomplish satisfaction, but most of all it exerts the feeling of flying conservatively. - Callum"

Welcome back Ade - The funny thing about the X50 I think is that even TT are not exactly letting much out the bag than some pics and a few vids. The hobbies gone a bit mad in the time you've been out and slowing on the heli field atleast the last flyin I went too I saw more of a mix of heli's than just Align.

TT have missed the boat and hopefully the X50 will make up some ground, but again most kits now are coming with flybarless options and I don't believe the X50 does as yet.

Nonetheless - as said welcome back whether its a brief encounter or something more longer term.
        Cheers

Thank you Ade for the Video.

Don't know if "things" have changed much behind the curtains since you left, but most of the times we're still a happy and helpful bunch here... Im sure there are a lot of us who could use your experience and knowledge (in the right way).

          Again, thank you mate.

          Cheers,
(P.S.: Im still a fan of the NFS and Forza Motor Sports Series )

Hi Ade, I was wondering where you'd disappeared to, I particularly missed watching your amazing efforts DS'ing gliders.......Charmouths coming up soon

I'm still here, popping out of the woodwork occasionally with a cutting and cynical remark.

I sort of get from Ade's post that he's not about to launch back into the hobby but more of a this is why I got out post.

A shame your not in the hobby Ade and I'm sure World of Warcraft (whatever that is) is a much richer place because of you, I know World of Helis is a much poorer place without you and people like you. Try and find a halfway house, ignore the shite and enjoy the 60mph inverted flypasts. Simples.

There is a certain irony in heading to WoW to avoid 'politics' and 'power hungry' people ( I speak as a 7 day a week raider at one point )

But the important thing is that you are enjoying yourself.

I don't think the lack of talk about the X50 is a reflection of any particular brand loyalty, just a huge lack of promotion by TT, right now it is hard to get any real details on this one.

The recent developments and excitement down at the flying field are about almost nothing from Align although Align kicked the current flybarless frenzy into motion so this is not a one horse show by any means.

Good post Ade, I was also getting a bit bored of all the politics in this hobby and clubs (not the reason I left though) - I am as guilty of dishing out the banter as the next person in the R/C hobby but I always flew what I believed in. Saying that I did have some great times too.

In my current hobby (windsurfing) the feeling you get is that everyone, whether you know them or not, is a team no matter what kit they use and it's a very pleasant atmosphere.

I'll be down at Champs to help Ash with the filming and to have a laugh! Look forward to seeing you all there!

                            Hi Ade,
Nice to see you back on here. Your flying always inspired me, no more so than the demo flight you did at the 3DM a few years back.

I vividly recall that flight as well. One of the highlights for me along with Tereq's mad flight in the evening which eventually ended in a disagreement with terra firma.

My observation is that I think most of us steer fairly clear of the politics and the clubs I fy at are quite casual and stick to having fun.

There is quite a culture of constantly changing fashions and trends that I myself tend to stay outside of.

Anyway, 'good to see you posting again Ade.
