Clever or Stupid buy...?

Well, I brought a Futaba S9254 digital tail servo from e-bay auction. Claims to be brand new and still in a box.

Paid £41 inc p&p
This is for my Trex 500.

Was it a good buy or good bye? Just wonder.

If so its not a bad deal... i have baught 4 BLS251's off the bay (HK) and they have all been fine... and its a reasonable saving...

i bought 3x futaba s3003's from there, bnib but when they came they were fake cheap copies in bags! the pic on the auction used a genuine futaba pic, they were from japan, hope you done have same prob, on the other hand ive bought plenty of other things with no probs!

^^ I'll tell you when I receive it - if there is any sign that it's not "New" then it's going back. The seller is from UK and paid by paypal and I can return it within 7 days. Hopefully I'll keep it.

Some Futaba servo's come in bags. If that is your only reason for suspiscion I wouldn't worry.

I received my servo today - came in a box, Futaba, made in Taiwan and unopened and it works ok. So it must be a genuine article.

If its new, then bargain, definatly. You do get a lot of stuff on ebay that is "new", but that has been used, and just repackaged. But by the sounds of it, twas a good deal.

Sounds like a deal to me if it's pukka. I'm running a 9254 on my 500 and it works just fine!

GY401 and S9254 might be "ancient" by todays standards, but still works fine!!!

Yep I believe that Futaba 148 and 9254 are the "Victorian Engineering" standard. I have a 22 yrs old Futaba 148 and a ~8 years old 9254 which I still use in fixed wing and they have never let me down!

@Martin 61 - I intend to use the new 9254 in my Trex 500 too. Although I've already an Align 620 fitted - I'm not so sure if I can trust it as much as I do Futaba.... time will tell.

I have about 3 or 4 9254s and they have always worked for me with no issues as yet. It should have plenty of torque for the 500 considering it handles much bigger helis without a problem.

I have a 401/9254 combo and it's fine for me, but then my flying skills don't test the duo that much.

Still using a 9254 with a 720 on one of my 600n. It works fine.
