  • DX7,DX6i,9XII,DSX9,X9303 Stick Timer.

If like me you forget to activate your countdown timer when you start flying and you dont have a throttle stick timer function like newer radio's have then you might want to get one of THESE. Its a module you easily solder to the throttle stick pot and it automatically starts your countdown timer when you lift the throttle stick

    It costs around 12 euro's.

I think the only thing you have to be careful of is the modification of a Tx that has undergone Ce certification is that this will then be null and void and I believe illegal to use as it then doesn't conform. Not 100% certain that it's illegal but it would be similar to the routing of the 2.4gig Tx wire on the early Spectrum to Jr modules. These were quickly undermined by the BMFA

    Nice little unit though

I'm not sure, I believe it's down to the modification of the case in the module/aerial wire mod and this would then be changing the electronics, albeit offering an improvement but modding it nevertheless.

As I said I'm not sure about the legality, I'm sure most wouldn't understand it anyway and how could anyone really find it or identify that it's been modded.

Just go out and buy a transmitter that has the functions you want, to start messing around inside one is nuts.

Fiddle with the RF PCB and antenna and maybe the CE is invalid.
This sort of mod though will only affect the warranty not the legality of using the set.
Just like if you replaced the stick units with some other form of input for a disabled person to use.

Love to see you make your insurance pay out after doing this and getting in a claim situation, just like not notifying tge car insurance co about your lowered springs...

OK, i made my own little circuit to auto start my DX7 countdown timer with the flight mode switch. Consists of 5 components, and costs pennies to make.

Very nice, im one of those who always forgets. Does it go on as an ancillary device, ie it has its own circuit, thats activated by the stick movement. Or do you actually have to modify the controllers circuitry?

Its a seperate little circuit, on some strip board, 5 components and 3 wires to solder. Its wired to the flight mode switch and the back of the +/- button so it just starts the timer when i go to idle up.

yeah that is pretty cool then, i wouldnt have been to keen on something that relies on modifying some fundamental part of the circuit.

I agree, the only thing with the one ive made is you have to stop the timer manually.. i'll work on another circuit that stops the timer when i hit TH or go back to normal flight mode.
