  • New Raptor 60 on its way

Hi all I have just purchased a Raptor 60 and would like to know your experiences with them, and compare it with the Raptor 50 V2 Thanks Peter.

Raptors are a great solid heli, but the 60 is the predesesor to the 90 really, the 50's killed off the 60 market due to better power to weight.
I would be tempted if wanting 3d performance to convert it to a 90 that can be done easy

Thanks your getting me all giddy. How much does the 90 differ from the 60 other than blades and engine?

put some heat shrink over the gears with the pins in to stop them moving
although the 60 (now converted to a 90) i bought in 2001 was never done and the pins haven't moved.........yet
the other 60 i have has been glued at the pin ends
fit the two bolts into the torque tube and fit two support bearings (the 60 kit only has one fitted, but it runs smoother with two)

keep an eye on the auto bearing as mine kept locking up, a quick uk auto hub cured it in the end
light paddles livens the cyclics up on them
make sure you align the clutch up correctly or the shoe will break (the 90 clutch and bell is a good upgrade once the 60 one has worn out)
if you want longer flight times drop the 90 tank into it
and if you have an un-planned landing check the 90 boom and torque tube prices as they were cheaper than the 60

        i've never owned a 30 or 50 raptor
the mp2 works better than the zimmerman exhausts, the mp6 i',m told is better

and just smile when your enjoying your raptor
even if you do this to it (don't worry its back flying again)

boom, torque tube, rudder rod, boom stays, pinion gear to convert from a 60 to 90

you can run the 60 boom if you wished to
and alter the gearing to suit your flying/engine with pinion and main gear options

and you need the bigger fuel tank

if you have a v1 or early v2 then you will need to change the front frames and servo mount if you are going to use the os91sx-h c spec or sz-h hyper due to the cylinder head size
the 91hz and the ys motors will fit the v1 frame

to tell the late type frame/fan housing lookat the front and see if it has a plastic spacer fitted or two screw hole to fit a plate, if it has the c spec/sz-h will fit by removing the plate/spacer
