  • deans or not

Hi, i would be interested in knowing whether you can use deans connectors on 6s lipos, or should you use the gold bullet connectors. i have been informed that the deans plugs can overheat or in some cases melt Thanks

Deans are more than capable im sure, I have seen them used on a few 12s setups.

Personally I would use 4mm shrouded bullets.

I think Deans are rated for 60A so I would be tempted to use 5.5mm bullets.

Very true......IF......they are genuine deans connectors.....but 98% of them out there are not....

          I HATE soldering Deans.

Thinking of the EC connectors range.

There is plenty of 500's about using Deans, as Kenny says though, make sure they are good ones if not genuine.

Bullet all the way for me. I can solder bullets but am rubbish at deans. I would use EC3 but bullets are easier to take of the packs (going by how they look as i've not actually tried them)

Deans Can be a pain to solder. I am sure there are better connectors out there, but when I got my 500, the heli & the lipos I got with it were all deans, so I've stuck with them. In all fairness, I've never had a failure in use, just you need to be able to solder reasonably well.

                          Just my 2p's worth.

Started swapping from 4mm bullets to EC3/EC5 this week, easy to solder and assemble, even with very large cable sizes. According to Horizon Hobby's website the EC3's are good to 60A constant and the EC5's 120A which is plenty good enough for me. The only problem is finding EC5's at the moment as a lot of retailers are out of stock.

Well.. I use deans on everything, and never had any problems at all with them.
