Silicone spray for main thrusts

I normally use 'thrust grease' from FL, which looks to be molly grease. I have seen people use Silicone Spray lubricant too on HF, is anyone else using this?

I always find that grease is just slung out of them anyway and all that is left is a thin amount of lube anyway.

Would just be able to give it a squirt in the blade grips once a month or so without stripping it down.

Im giving it a go as I have read people running with the thrusts dry and had no issue

Worth a go Paul,but i reckon it wont do a better job than grease.Its not really hard to grease the grip thrusts,if it was a job like a rear bearing to replace then yeah,can see it being worth it

Its not just that, I normally end up ramming them full of grease and after a few flights you can see half of it down your blades.

After stripping down the grips there is only a thin film of lube left anyway.

I had a Kasama head on my 600 and the blade grips had a hole in the top inline with the thrust bearings for lubrication.could be a worthwhile mod Paul?

Yup, I had that head on my 600 too. Simple and useful idea, unsure why other dont adopt this really.

Theres your problem then,being too generous with the grease

I used silicone spray once. When I next stripped down I found the races dented. It looked to me like when the spray dries, it tends to "stick" the balls in position rather than let them roll. Went back to oil (well, bicycle chain lube!)

I have been thinking along the same line for my 450 Pro - drill a small hole (<1mm) and pouring PTFE lub for the bearings. At the worst I'd lose a pair of rotor grips that's all .

The propellant used will wash the grease out of the radial bearings so watch out where you use a spray.
