    Tom,

I'm in no way questioning the support that is offered by Midland or the manufacturer, and I have no experience of this model.

Perhaps my analogy was not a good one. The only point I was trying to make, and perhaps not well, is that if a product is truly great it wouldn't need the high levels of support available.

I believe this point was made in an earlier thread about Spektrum and Horizon Hobby.

That's a point I also strongly support. When folk bang on about how good a model is if you have the experience necessary to assemble it then my thoughts immediately go to bad design!

Let's face it the basic pod and boom and flight controls are no longer new things. There's only so many ways you can make a one-way/autohub or a tail drive or mixer arms etc so what;s the big deal about finding a way t hang it all on a frame with an engine mount and fuel tank?

True innovation is rare in this hobby now and I suspect that genuine stress testing and load testing almost never happens.

It'd be nice to see the heli concept thrown at an F1 design team or the engineering dept at Imperial College in combination with a Fashion School.

Then we might see minimalist effective structural design and real performance with inbuilt bling...

So do I, honestly I do, but how do you qualify that experience? I too have had issues with the Aurora and other heli's, but 9 times out of 10 it has been through my own fault or a mistake I have made Despite the fact that I think of myself as very mechanically minded.

I think that, when one lacks the necessary experience and/or skills, this forum comes into its own with the advice and support freely available and willingly offered.

I think the problem is the "Expectation" the Aurora has, i.e. if you had problem with an Align kit you would be resigned to the fact that its just Align quality, but with the Aurora you are expecting the best, but saidly this is no the case, so it ends up disapointing.

This is exactly what happens each time I buy a new Audi or BMW (never owned a MB) my expectation goes up, and each time the cars have been disapointing, where as when I buy VW's my expectation is some how lower and although they tend to have the same number of problems (no suprise with the Audi since they are often the same car), and therefore i am not disapointed with VW

I have a flying buddy with an Aurora, and he had a number of build and quality issues since, but now its all sorted its a fantastic machine, so stick with it.

I wasn't knocking the ace support and help from members and users..and you can't totaly protect everyone form human stupidity and error BUT you can design and index components to reduce such errors AND you can design and index parts to reduce the count AND you can design the machine to make repairs and replacements easy.

Take a classic..putting in the thrust washers the wrong way around! It's harder to do if the tolerances are precise because the differences become more obvious. Align help further by marking 'in' and 'out' albeit hard to read for older eyes without a magnifying glass or good lighting. A simple red and blue anodising on the outer faces and it would be nigh on impossible to screw up...
(and note I used red and blue to avoid those colourblind errors)
