Not having a lot of luck with my 700 so i thought i'd get me an avant aurora, good move i thought! Got to bag 3 in the build, mainshaft bearing was ****'d! got new one, sorted.not! spent ages on doing a nice build following instructions very cearfully only to see when putting the sideframes together the drillings are on the **** and there is not enough clearance around the main and auto gears and thay rub the frame!, for the money i would have expected a much higher quality heli than this. Unhappily i think this aurora is going back to where it came, not acceptable My 600n and my 500fbl rock so why am i having a sh*t time when it comes to 90's Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

This can happen to any helicopter.

    Where you buy it from?

Midland Helicopters stock the Aurora and give great service. Ask for Rob (Robgt) or Matt (Matt the splatt).

There are guys on this forum that have experience with the Aurora like Tom Burgess. They can compare/help

    Hope you get it sorted

Don't give up on it Cuppa. By all accounts it's an excellent machine.

I'm sure when the folks come on tomorrow it will get sorted.

        Stick with it

            Hiya Cuppa,

If the transmision gears are rubbing on the frame then it sounds like you may have something causing an issue somewhere. I have seen this before, try flipping both the main and auto gear around and see of that helps.

Avant support is awesome! if you have any questions or problems with parts the support is there!

The Aurora takes a little bit more care when building the kit and during maintenace but it rewards you with the way it perform's.

Trust me, once you have the machine flying it will be worth it!!, it truly is an awesome flying machine!

                I'm with Cuppa i'm afraid,

As good as the Aurora appears, side frame drillings and main bearings are pretty fundamental failures in supply. And for a kit thats been out 2 years should of been resolved.

I wouldn't rule out another Aurora though - but i'd be checking batch numbers etc.

it does have good support and reputation which is worth remaining in for.

I have built 3 aurora's in total, 2 nitro and 1 electric. Never had a problem with the builds you just need to take your time! I found that the 700 almost builds its self where as the aurora needs a little more TLC when building..

Had 3 flights last night on the electric and I have to say its simply awesome!

don't give up you will love the way it flies

                  Cheers

Hi there, sorry to hear you are having issues. Can I just confirm that you have the main shaft bearing blocks orientated correctly? I.E. the notch on the blocks are facing the rear of the heli? Also, what makes you think the frames are mis-drilled? Have you got any pictures?

Stick with it, the support you will get from Midlands will be second to none as already mentioned. It's an awesome machine but like what has also already been said, it's a more involved build than an Align heli.

Any questions on anything just give me a shout.

                        Hi,
I too had a few problems during my build like the boom being drilled wrong and one or two of the holes in the frame were out slightly but all were sorted by
Midlands and fast lads. I still haven't flown mine due to ys engine problems but it's a stunning to
                        Look at on my shelf.
Even tho I had a few problems I really enjoyed building the Heli and the advise Tom gave me was really helpful.
                        Thanks

Well i'm sad to say the aurora has gone back today at least i got my money back, i could see another can of worms getting opend I think because all the tollarances are so close there is no margin for error in manufacture, and i still have a 700 that is still a sick puppy i do have quite a good enginering, mechanical background so i'm no slouch when it comes to spanners! I have won a few prizes for my my trike over the years, best in show ect dun the NEC bike show. you can see photos at hairy designs web site cuppas trike, paints not my work most the rest is

Sorry to hear of your mis-fortune in this respect.

I'm minded of a little bit similar situation I came across on a photographic forum a couple of years ago.

The Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens, a great lens so said by many, seemed to have a loyal following. However a bunch of the owners suffered with real issues (I read of many that were on their second or third lens due to issues with focusing, vibration reduction etc).

And yet many still claimed that it was a great lens, in spite of having to send theirs back three times for repair.

Loyalty is a funny thing eh?

                            Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

Lol, screams out Align other than the fact you can't send a Trex back for repair or replacement. Nice one Martin

Seriously though, I don't think this one instance is enough to prove a "false following", lol

Cuppa, gutted to hear it wasn't for you. Oh well. Hope you can get the 700 flying soon to enjoy this great hobby
