It's 18mths old with a couple of prime prangs along the way (not everyone can shove a mainshaft through the fule tank or the muffler through the crankcase)
Back to the story:
Gusty today into the mid twenties. I was having another go at practicing autos and having a job judgeing glideslope into the variable wind..so a couple were into the rough. Flight before last I unwound a bit of grass from that slider then went for my highest yet.. certainly over 150feet and judged it well... didn't quite make the really short grass of the runway..the slightly longer stuff in the central triangle. Heli was ticking over nicely and the tail wasn't snagging so I oofed up some power to jump it out...expected a bit of a swing but not insane piros!!
I got away with a tiny training edge chip on one blade and a slightly bowed flybar.
I suppose the smart thing to do might be to go for height and then throttle hold and auto properly..but the thought of it piroing towards me.. and the simple truth that i didn't think of it. I'm claiming a piroing auto from 6 feet
