  • Thinning my fleet....

    All,

Getting a bit fed up with breaking the helis and fixing them my pocket keeps getting hit and the defender was probably the last straw.

Selling everything but my Knight 50 and thats on borrowed time!

Just had enough of fiddling etc.

Probably going to revert back to planes... but just keep the Knight 50.

anyone esle get really fed up with the whole thing, sometimes just ****'s you right off?

Yep, I hate having all different models so thinned my lot to a pair of Trex 600's and a pair of SE V2's.

If only I could sell the Knight

      Blimey Disc!!

Looks like your really cheesed off? I know how you feel, as my Predator has been nothing but trouble so far! as you know, but I will persist a bit longer with it, Ive a few things more to try before I throw the towel in with it. How did the flight with your nitro pred go? you said it was going for an outing yesterday then all of a sudden your selling both of them.

Hope you dont get too down about it, but if you go back to planks I wish you all the best mate.

Why do you want to sell the 3d

I have thinned my fleet down and will probably end up being all Align

Still got a couple of planes but not really assed with those

Im sorry you feel like that but i do know where you are coming from

Chris, I like the 3D but not as much as I like the 600's, IC is just not worth the hassle with the amount I actually get to fly them - I bought a case of 20% in October and still have 1.5 gallons left

Its the best heli i have ever flown without doubt and all my Align stuff is totally trouble free so far,i am too busy during the week and need helis i can just plug in and fly when i want

Electric is working well for me at present, may just get one Nitro 600 as a practice model to save risking my Lipos unecessarily

I should really thin my fleet down as well, only because I haven't got enough room for 5 helis all in full-up flying condition.

However, my Sceadu 50 is the stallwart - it's nearly 5 years old now, and has only ever been dinked once, and that was only an £80 crash. I suppose if I average it out over 5 years, at maybe 4 flights per week, that's in the region of 250 flights I've had with it, with no mechanical failures at all, and only one electrical failure - 9254 tail servo went recently. If you took a rough guess at an all-in flying cost of £600 for the heli when it was new, then not including fuel, the Sciddly-Doo is currently costing me about £2.40 per flight, which is a nice comfy feeling.

The Sceadu was my 2nd heli, after I'd learnt to hover with a Scuttle 30. In fact, I probably learnt a damn site more over the years with the Scooby than I ever did with the Scuttle.

But hey, it's still got the original Hirobo main and tail blades, and the only 'upgrades' I ever put on it were a Quick UK 3rd tail bearing block and Carbon Extreme head dampers.

Doesn't owe me anything really, and that's what you need - gives me a real sense of pleasure and comfort when I fly it, because I'm not scared or worried about the cost of any damage. It's great fun to fly some of my newer, more expensive, much better and/or bigger helis like Mille 90 and Airskipper 50 etc, but there's always that element of tension associated with flying them. I really don't want, nor can I really afford to wreck the 90.

The Sceadu is that 'ole pair of cumfy slippers - a pleasure to fly.

If the Knight is there for you, then why not stick to it?

Actually makes a lot of sense in the long run.
